NEW LOLO PROJECT

Okay, I am going to start a new project, looking if I can bring a new engine to the RMN Community, this is not so much of a game-maker engine, its more like a programation language (I think it's more like the engine that would be classified as custom), maybe you know it maybe you don't.

The program its delphi, And I'm goint to experiment with something simple.

My idea is to make another game of the adventures of Lolo. (I will be surprised if no one remember this)

But before I start making the game I would like to read:

What would you like to see new, what would you take rid off.
What make this game great, what didn't so much.

Sorry of my bad english, I hope my topic it's clear ;)
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I don't get it. Are you hacking this game to change parts of it? Recreating this game from scratch identical to the original? Recreating it from scratch with minor changes? Making a fan sequel with the same gameplay but different levels? Making an RPG tie-in?

All of those sound like semi-terrible ideas except hacking it, to be honest.

Also, I have a physical SNES sitting on my dresser right now plugged into my TV, with a higher priority than my Xbox 360 or my Wii, and I have never heard of this stupid game. Usually when people hack or recreate or make fan-sequels to games, it's because the games are really good and are still popular.

Also also, this site is mostly for making RPGs, or for making non-RPGs with the RPG Maker programs. While other indie games are allowed, don't feel bad if you don't get much interest from users here (like me). It's just not our thing.

If you never heard of it how do you know it's stupid? As for using other engines than rpgmaker : the SMBX, Adventure Game Studio , Custom, IG maker, Game Maker, Renpy games on rmn are countless????????!

Edit : looks fun, here's an example of a project similar to yours:

Adventures of Lolo was a very popular NES game, LockeZ. Spawned a few sequels.

I remember Lolo! I liked the first a lot better than the sequels for reasons I can't fully comprehend.

About the only thing I'd take out would be any puzzles involving ambiguous water currents. Like where you'd have to egg an enemy and push them in the water, then ride the egg to wherever it was supposed to go. If you keep that kind of puzzle, make the currents visible with moving bubbles or something.

Otherwise, go for it! It'd be cool to see old stuff, new stuff, and old stuff used in new ways, so let your imagination run wild.
LockeZ: I am planning to do a fan sequel.

Chana: Yes, I known about all them :P, I just found this program "Delphi" that I am interesting in give it a try, so I think lolo requires a low level of programattion comparing it to an RPG game (and also it's fun). But if you give to pick one from the engines displayed on the community, I would pick any rpg-maker or even the game maker due that those have a pretty acessible interface to create one. (Don't missunderstand me, not that I want complicate myself by evading the engines that already make's easier the creation of games,I want to learn this programation language by creating a game) Also, it looks great that project, thanks for sharing, not fan of the tridimensional art, but beside that, yes, pretty similar for what I want to achieve.

So...

Edit: Didn't saw your comment hallibaca sorry, but... yes I have though many things about what can I do :D but that of the water currents never pass through my mind, take for sure that I will put that in my game ;), that's why I am asking for this things.
dun dun duh doh duh, dun dun duh doh duh, dun dun duh doh duh dun duuh duuuuuh

I could totally see this earning a small little community of it's own, or at least one fairly well received game.
I loved Adventures of Lolo! It was a fun and very cute puzzle game for the NES.

Hmm. Well, after the unexpected show of enthusiasm, I played the original game a little bit out of curiosity. While I don't really see how it's good enough to inspire fan works 20 years later, I do at least see how it's a fun game that you can probably come up with a lot of custom stages for.

I didn't really get far enough to offer any advice, though. Other than stupid stuff like adding a portal gun to it.
