Hi, I am new here.
Although I primarily come here for two game requests, I am also interested in what has changed since I was active in the RPG Maker territory - around 2000-2004, the end of the not-so-loved RPG Maker 95 and the rise of the great RPG Maker 2000. I completely skipped over everything that came afterwards and I am also not really coming here now to contribute in regards of self-made games for newer makers, but I'd like to see to where the games have been going. Yesterday I checked Youtube and saw that the famous SNES-Mode-7 3D effect is possible in later RPG Maker versions, so I am curious how some newer games play with such special effects because I have - despite all love for old games - also a big affinity towards good graphics.
Regards,
Grizzly

Hiya, Grizzly! I wouldn't necessarily call 2D(or old) bad graphics, but that's just me. Welcome to RMN!
Well, reading my sentence again, it sounds a bit wrong. I wanted to say that I love sprite-based 2D graphics but I like them even more if they are mixed with special effects. But they must be pixelized special effects, such like the SNES-Mode-7-3D effect that doesn't add high resolution but just a flat 3D plane in a completely unfiltered pixely way. Also pixel snow, transparent moving fog or sprite-based water reflections are, in my opinion, very cool when a 2D game uses them. They enhance the feel of a great 2D game even more for me without going away from the overall pixel 2D.
Actually, I never really played one of all those vector-based 2D games that are released recently for IPhone but from the looks of it they are definitely inferior to good old pixel 2D.

Welcome to RMN! Enjoy your stay! Did you have any games you made from that era that you'd like to post?
Yes, I have made four games, although one is very simple because it was the first "big game" from me and one is more like a tech demo without a real story. But two games are actually quite fun.
Where would I post them? Here in the thread or is there a special area for this?

If you desire to post a game, go to Submissions->Submit Game and work from there. Remember that a game needs to have three screenshots before it gets into the queue.
