I don't need a script, I'm just trying to get it so whenever he clicks on a pack of cigarettes in the inventory, it subtracts one and (so, a way to bunch them at 20?), I already figured out how to change the sprite to the character with a cigarette via a common event on the item, and I'm guessing I can make it change back just as easily with a wait__ command for when he "finishes the cigarette"... but one thing I'm not sure how to do (with common events or otherwise) is how to make the picture of smoke follow him around via the stop animation sprite (the RTP character graphic 197)... as a seperate event that is triggered via the common event maybe? But then I don't know how to get it to stay over the player.
it's pretty easy to get a picture to follow the player. Just use variable operations to make a pair of variables track the player's screen X and screen Y and have that as a parallel process so it updates constantly. Then once you've shown the smoke picture have a move picture command also on a parallel process that moves the picture to the values held in those two variables that you have tracking the player character's screen-relative X and Y coordinates. If that makes sense :D

I'll try to figure that out NewBlack, though I haven't really gotten to variables yet. It's one thing I just haven't had to use yet. The time has come.
I'll have to work it into my system of things to work on.
