For me, it's usually metal/rock, though I do find myself liking some other genres. One of my favorite bands is probably Lamb of God, or Machine Head. but on the other end I like some different styles like SHE, Infected Mushroom, and some others.
Orchestral works with sweeping strings. Heck, anything with glorious violin segments. Certified to get me a-swooning and going.

So I'd be running in a cross country race in high school. It's near the end and I'm dead exhausted. Legs burning, lungs burning, on the verge of throwing up. But the end of the race is in sight. And then that song kicks in on my inner playlist.

Man, I have so many. I mostly listen to FFXI music or orchestral orientated when I'm just lounging or at my computer.
I listen to this when I just wanna jump straight into a combat or dilemma type thinker for events in my game;
I listen to this one when I'm writing ideas down or planning something;
This one when I'm just lounging around mostly;
When I'm depressed or upset about something, it's usually this;

And when I'm-- actually, nevermind, I've drowned myself in music I listen to when I'm in a certain mood, that's just from my FFXI collection. XD
YES! FFXI had such awesome music. CoP Final Battle music is my favorite!
Damn there's a lotta cools stuff there. I'll have to give a longer listen later to the Dunbine them and "Escalon. And Gourdclae, if you're still here, Shinki's the ruler of MAkai or the "Demon world' In one of the Touhou games. While I haven't played any of those yet i definitely enjoy the music especially Sakuya and Marisa's themes and remixes-, especially lately. It definitely varies according to my mood and feelings- anything from "Rodrigo" by the planets to
the Seramyu song FIRE or Touhou for that matter.

YES! FFXI had such awesome music. CoP Final Battle music is my favorite!
Ha, yeah. CoP's final boss music was smexy. I loved the entire OST of FFXI and all its expansions. Infact, I still play it every now again on my Xbox 360. I've kinda lost interest in it, but I'm slowly going back into interest from time to time. It's a really fun game, and I probably spent 60% of most of my time playing it.
