I don't know how to make pictures work for RPG Maker 2003, can someone do it for me or point me in the right direction please?

What do you exactly need help with, exporting pictures or showing the pictures ingame?
They show up as blanks in the game itself, I need help converting them to the RM2k3 colours, etc... If that made any sense

Download Paint.Net, put the picture in it, save it. It should make it compatible with 2K3.
Not to hijack this thread, but will Paint.Net prevent the color in pictures from dying when they're saved as .png?
(<-- will feel like a derp if this is true, because I never previously thought about using P.Net for anything other than drawing.)
Its have to be in 256 colours, and the first colour of the palette are the transparent colour that rpg maker uses. I use Micrografx PhotoMagic 4 (old program but very good for rpg maker 2k3)
I personally prefer Charactermaker 1999 or Photoshop CS5. Mostly Charactermaker because it is a swift creation or conversion. I open it in Charactermaker, and save it as a .png. Easy. Make sure the first colour of the palette is the colour you want to see transparent. If not, character maker can change it via the Palette editor function.
GraphicsGale is a good bet for getting decent results when reducing colour depth from full colour to 8-bit/256 colours for rm2k3.
The ship and background in this screenshot were both painted in full colour and then reduced to 256 colour palettes using graphicsgale's "Type D" colour depth reduction (there are 4 types you can use in GG, each will give slightly different results and are better for certain things) to make them suitable for rm2k3 use.
