MISSING SOME FILE I GUESS

Posts

Pages: 1
A few of RPGmaker 2003 games say the file vehicle can't be opened when I try to start them.
I'm guessing I'm missing some RTP files or something.
Anyone know what I'm missing and how to get them?

Thanks!
Pretty sure I have it, other 2003 games work, so far only Death Proclaimed 1 and 2 don't work.

I'm gonna try to reinstall RPGmaker 2003, you happen to know where I can get the files? It's been a while, so I can't remember where I got them.

Thanks!

No problem! gl on the game ur playing!
Just so you guys know this problem is caused by two things:

- The game maker did not make his game RTP-independent
- The player does not have the RTP installed

The engine crashes when it tries to load files that are not supplied with the game. It just happens that the vehicle sprite sheet is the first resource that gets loaded, so when the game crashes due to not finding resources, it crashes because it cannot find the vehicles.

While it is illegal to have the maker program installed without having actually purchased it, it is absolutely not illegal to download and distribute the RTP. If this problem comes up again, feel free to supply a download link to the RM2k3 RTP (again this is perfectly legal).
Another problem is that a lot of different "versions" of RM2K3 have different filenames. I've seen a few that referenced something like "vehicle_1.png" and another want "Vehicle1.png."

But yeah, the author should definitely include the RTP with his game. Does anyone still have a copy of the "RTP Dependency Scanner" ?
