RPG Maker VX Ace Selection rectangle Topic

I'm migrating over from RM2k3 and I'm loving everything I'm seeing... except I can't seem to find one of my favorite tools from RM2k3... the selection rectangle.

What I'm talking about is grabbing a chunk from the map and either dragging it around, copying/pasting it, etc. I see there are options in the menu for copy and paste but I see nothing in my toolkit.

I tried searching the help file included with the program but I'm not seeing anything. Any ideas?

Have you tried right clicking, moving around, and then hitting left click? :)

I recently migrated from 2k3 as well. I hate to inform you, but I believe they removed the tool :( It was good tool, but the benefit of VX Ace is there are no "filtered" layers, so, as long as you are on the same map and not trying to go into another project, you can right click and it'll get everything but events. I guess it doesn't completely substitute for a selection tool, but its the closest you can get, unfortunately.

yeah, you can grab any sized area you want and even paste it onto other maps

RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON

<shift> works exactly the same as in 2k/3 too
