E3!
Posts
Haven't been paying much attention to E3, but I did check out the Resident Evil 6 gameplay trailer. It doesn't that bad and I sort of liked it (which seems to be an unpopular opinion to have). I think the big draw is that there are actual zombies again.
The two best gaming things things that has happened during E3 so far:

Highlights for me so far
This! Also, the zombie Kickstarter that Shinan posted looks great as well, think I'll donate when I get home tonight.
A zombie game on the WiiU (ugh, that name) has also been shown off that sounds really cool. I guess there's an online component where you can run into zombies that represent other players who have died. So if your friend Bob plays the game and dies in some obscure room, I guess you'll be able to encounter zombified Bob in your own game. You can also run into your own zombie that will still carry everything you had when you died, which is a neat concept.
It looks like a genuinely creepy game too, which is shocking considering the fact that it's being made for a Nintendo console. If the big N can pump out third party titles like this, then they may have their strongest console since the N64.

Don't really care about the E3. I haven't done any real gaming (Console/Pc) for the last five years or so, anyway. Too expensive...
Only Suikoden 6 could make me buy a last generation console, but I don't see that happening. Thanks for nothing, Konami. >=(
Also, rant.

The new Tomb Raider makes me feel so sad. =( There's rebooting a series (Which didn't need a reboot to begin with. The past three games were the reboot. A reboot of a reboot? That's fricking insane!) and there's running it into the ground, beat it with a stick, and brain-washing it into something completely different try to appeal to a wider audience. That game is a perfect example of pasting the name of an already established series on top of another game to hope for more sales, if there was ever one...
The graphics look nice, I'll give you that. And I'm not too bothered by the change of gameplay. The story I know nothing about so I'll give time to that. But why? Oh why did they have to ruin Lara's character so much? ...My favorite part is the "fans" (Read: people who will withdraw their 'support' once it stops being cool rotting for the new Lara.) reaction to the change.
"Finally a game that is not about her ass and boobs." No game was about that, you big dolt! And the perverts that gave the series its bad name are not going anywhere! They're already saying how she sounds like a porn actress!
"Finally no more monkey Lara. This is more realistic." The game starts with her setting herself on fire, falling from who knows how high and impaling her side with a bone, only to get up right away. Pure realism right there bud...
"Finally no more robot Lara, this one shows emotions." The last three games had already made a good job at showing her many emotions, just it wasn't the focus. You can only care about a character if is vulnerable at all times?
"Finally a Lara that can't do it all. Now she's human!" She was no simple Mary-sue. She was the fucking female version of Batman! Now she's just a girl who traded her ipod for a makeshift bow and shit-tons of luck? I say, bullshit!
And I can't help but wonder, how much of this is Square-Enix's fault? Because, well, they just seem to ruin everything they touch lately... At this rate I just hope they let the "Legacy of Kain" franchise rest in peace. xP

I'm not even sure what was so great about Tomb Raider to begin with. This is coming from someone who played through the first three. Not even nostalgia can side with it.
I liked Tomb Raider 2 for goofing around in Lara's manor and locking the butler in the giant meat freezer. Aside from that, I thought that they were pretty forgettable games.
I was crazy about the Tomb Raider games when I was a kid, there was really nothing like it when the first one came out. This new one gives her an origin story that ACTUALLY follows her backstory, instead of the one that was kind of rewritten in the fourth game. Mind you, I haven't even played any of the newer gen games in the series, but I may end up playing this one at some point or another.
As for the rest of E3... there were virtually no Vita announcements, no great RPG news to be heard, and nothing that really excited me. Pretty much the same as last year, except Sony have this laughable storybook thing this time.

I don't follow the buzz about upcoming titles anymore. I drove myself crazy anticipating Smash Bros Melee back in the day and ever since then I decided not to put myself through it anymore >.>
So instead of saying,
"oh man, i can't wait for this awesome game to come out in late 2013"
i'm saying
"oh man, look at this awesome game that just came out"
then I play it. and I play the tons of other awesome games that are out already that I haven't played yet that were unveiled at the previous E3 haha

Pfft! That's nothing. I only recently got a second hand GBA and I've been playing a bunch of 10 year old games. xP
Regarding Tomb Raider. Yeah, the original was pretty novel for its time, and I guess the series just touched upon subjects that I've always loved. Overall thy were in fact a pretty memorable playing experience for me. Avoiding traps, solving puzzles and besting enemies with acrobatic gracefulness, while exploring the magnificent level design of ruins of ancient civilizations from all around the globe... Now that was the real sexy side of the games. x) And well, Lara a a character was nothing but awesome.
This new game just doesn't seem to deliver in any of those regards. It just feels, clumsy... Now, everybody go play TR:Anniversary instead!

Watchdogs is gonna be kickass, let's hope it lives up to expectations.
i hope it sucks, not that I even know what Watchdogs is, but im doing it out of spite
I don't think they know what to do with Tomb Raider. I mean, even when they make a good one it doesn't sell very well. That's a tricky spot for a well-known franchise that actually receives advertising. It's like you're doing everything right but nobody cares anyway. Tomb Raider Underworld was pretty good but didn't even breach 500k sales on the 360. Guardian of Light is absolutely fantastic but went nowhere either.
