RMXP CHARACTERS IN RMXV/ACE TILESETS

RM2K3 was the last program I used, and now I'm just starting to use RMVX Ace.
I want to use RMXP characters because I don't like the tiny VX ones. However, I want to use VX tilesets, because I just don't like the look of XP maps as far as I can tell. Is it common to use XP characters in VX maps? Is it stylistically acceptable?
I think I've seen some screenshots of RMVX games using RMXP characters but I can't tell if the tilesets are VX or not. Can you recommend some games that have this?

The XP charactersets are pixel based while VX tilesets have a multitude of colours. A clashing issue is generated when they're used together.
XP charactersets can be modified to look more VX-y, but that can be a bit of a pain.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

While it's true that VX tilesets aren't created as color-limited pixel art, both XP charsets and VX charsets are. So the coloration clashing won't be any worse than using VX charsets on VX tiles.
What might actually clash is the size of the objects. VX charsets are about two thirds as tall as XP charsets, so some of the manmade objects like tables and chairs are shorter too. Some of them might look odd with XP charsets.

LockeZ, the palettes are very different and VX uses a richer, higher colour one in comparison. So you would have to recolour to make them fit appropriately.
The size issue shouldn't crop up too much since majority of VX's tiles are bigger than they should be in regards to the characters. You will probably want to test that out first.

I see some RMVX games using RMXP sized sprites. Do they usually just use RMXP tilesets as well? And is it easy to convert XP tilesets for use in VX Ace?

RMXP's outdoor tilesets are so much better than VX's outdoor tilesets it's ridiculous. The indoor ones are a matter of style, but XP's outdoor tilesets aren't nearly as blocky so they just look way better.
This is apparently a tileset converter I found with a quick google search, that converts tilesets between xp, vx and vxace formats. I didn't actually try it. If it doesn't work, I'm sure you could find the xp tilesets already converted if you typed the right thing into google or visited the right resource site.
This is a shitton of VX resources for you. It looks like some of the XP resources are in there?
