CloseSo I was thinking about hosting a mafia game somewhere in the distant future. (Not in the near future, as I need more experience, as I'm currently playing my first mafia game. Also, two are running simultaneously already.) and I was thinking about the setting. I thought maybe the FF5 job system, with every participant being a different job. Would anyone play a mafia game like that or is it a horrible idea? As I haven't been following many mafia games, I don't know if it's been used before either, in which case it's a no-go anyway.

FF8 has been used already (didn't participate in that one), I haven't played the FF series so I wouldn't know a thing about it. Since the one you've been playing was a 'mini', it's probably a good idea to sign up for an 'official' one later first to get a feel out of it before hosting a new mafia.

I'm going to participate in at least 1 official mafia, and read up on every mafia that will come up before doing this one, that's for sure. Also, what are typical scum skills? I've been reading the ace attorney one, but the only scum skill I've read was clearing all votes.
I really don't care much about what is the theme, rockstars, football teams, commercial brands, I would still play it anyway since I like the essence of the game.(but now that I am thinking higurashi would be a great mafia game since the anime/visual novel is pretty similiar to an actual mafia game :3 I just think is not very popular aroung here)

Anime huh... Now I'm thinking about a Death Note mafia game, I think that might work better than FF5...
Anyway, what´s higurashi like? The only thing I know about it is that it has a greenhaired girl who at some point laughs maniacly after killing people.

The whole first season is a mistery about serial murders that happen one day by 5 years that the town blames a god so the story develops in many parallel universe were one character get's incredible paranoic about the "curse" and they end killing persons in order to don't get killed or another reasons, the second one becomes more understandable were there is one girl (My avatar) who everytime she get killed she resuscitate by the god so she is in charge of discovering who is behind all this in order to stop the murders. And it ends being a medical, political, economic conspiracy.

Making people appear innocent during an investigation, always appearing innocent, recruiting people to be mafia, there are others that you could look up in the wiki for mafia game.

A good theme helps, but it's the mechanics that really count.

It will be a while before my game, since I need more experience, but I'm liking my Death Note idea. Nobody steal it! XD
