I'm not sure exactly where to put this, but I found a neat game maker called Stencyl. Even though it's designed for physics games, they can be disabled to create RPG's. I would highly reccomend it.
Stencyl is great!
I fiddled around with it for the first stab at my current project, but lost steam when school started picking up. It's a bit weird to work with compared to 2k3 eventing and GML, but using it is fun.

I am pretty sure the community in general has known about Stencyl for a while, of course it probably did not receive the attention most other game engines did here. I think it is pretty neat, I just might use it one day to make a puzzle game or something.
It's a development tool for flash and iDevice that is predominately focused on physics and platformer games. I personally see it as more of a project manager, mapper and coding utility all wrapped up into one considering that the creation of logic in can either be done with a block based drag and drop system or actual code even both simultaneously if you're really desperate. It has a built-in community resource center that has a lot of useful things. Overall it's a pretty good program that can be used for a lot of stuff with some templates to help start you on a few things like an RPG or a platformer and it's probably really useful if you want to learn Actionscript or Obj-C due to it's functions there.
