I want my character to learn the spell just by seeing it. Doesn't have to hit him. Anyways back to my HCBailly LPs.
When the enemy casts the spell, set "turn switch on". Have a common event or a post-battle event that checks for switches and add skills.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Or better yet, a battle event. That way you can make sure to only teach it if the character is alive when the spell is cast. The battle event doesn't need to be in every monster group, only in the ones that can cast that spell.

Have the battle event trigger off the switch, and then have it check if the character is on the team, and then have it check if his HP is greater than 0, and then have it check if he already knows the spell (via another switch). If everything's good, teach him the spell, show a message, and turn on the switch for knowing that spell, so the event won't happen again.

Turning the switch on when the spell is cast is done in the monsters tab, where you set the enemy's behavior.
Okay thanks! I'll give it a go.
How do I check if he's already learned the spell... This is getting quite confusing for me>.> all worth it in the end though.

When you teach him the spell, turn on a switch. That switch is the one you need to check to find out if he's already learned it. You'll need one switch for each spell.
