My Background:
Hi everyone, my name's Joe, I'm a french-speaking Québécois from the province of Québec and I'm 19 years old. I've been a fan of video games for mostly all my life and have always been the kind to make my own stories. So, after years of writing my ''fantasy novels'', I stumbled across RPG Maker '95 when I was about 5 years old. ''Awesome'' would be the word I'd choose to describe what I felt that day. Seeing all those screenshots from the maker, all the possibilities from the fights to the cut-scenes, it was a dream come true.

Unfortunately, as I said, I'm a french-speaking person and when you're 5, you don't speak much english in your day at school here. Like I said, it was awesome to have a software in which you could have Link fight along Mario and King Edgar in a fight to the death against the evil Ganon and king K.Rool. But when it came to use the engine, in english, let's say I was overwhelmed. Thus, from that day, I would work hard on learning english. In a way, it was my quest.

To make it short, I would work on RPG Maker 2000, RPG Maker 2003 and RPG Maker 3 (PS2). Sadly, in all those years, I would only make one game. ''Legends of Heroes'' on RPG Maker 3. While a short game, I was proud of making something for the first and only time. Since then, I worked on RPG Maker VX for 4 years and finally, RPG Maker VX Ace.

My passions:
As I'm from Québec, I am a huge hockey fan. I've been watching hockey ever since I was around 3. The love I have for my Montreal Canadiens is something special. Whoever wants to have a good hockey discussion, talk to me ;). As I said earlier, I love video games. Really do. RPG's, side-scrollers, puzzle games, action-adventure, etc. Although I like many genres, FPS are a no-no for me. If there's something else I wanna add, it's my passion for everything that's old-school. The NES/SNES/N64 era is where it's at.

Final input:
By joining this community, I wish to meet developers, learn to improve my skills and be part of a community that shares my passion for game-making. My personal goal is to finally release a game, something I've never pulled before.

Looking foward to work with y'all.

That's the spirit! And don't let the fact that somebody else already has a review done for a game stop you!

*Edit: I'm just now noticing this, but when did my markerscore go over 4K? Darigaaz, it's pretty close to 5K!

*Edit 2: I bet it was the 5-star review given to The Here and Now of Yesterday.
I think that being a good coach is more important that being able to speak french. (isn't it the responsibility of the media outlets to ensure that their readers can read the news story, and not the responsibility of the coach to deliver the news in french? I never understood that. As much as an "institution" that Les Habitants are, they are a hockey team first.)

Welcome to RMN! I am from Saskatchewan and I own this site! I have no strong ties to any of the NHL teams (though I have a soft spot for Edmonton, given my proximity to them growing up AND watching them in the 80s (Gretzky is the greatest ever)) but I bleed green (Go Riders!).
Hello hello :)
Hope you like the community ;)

Well, I can understand your point. But out of 30 teams in the league, only 1 is based in a french market. I'm also in favor of a good coach over anything else, but it's the organisation's duty to represent our culture in the league. While many are total elitists, I for one, felt terrible for how Cunneyworth got snobbed. But hey, it's part of the business I suppose. On another note, your Oilers are goin to have some good years ahead of them! Also, go Als!! And I'm sorry, but Lemieux must be the greatest of the greats ;).

Hey salut! Comment ca va?

Hey, bonjour :). Sa va bien, toi?
Language is only one aspect of a culture, and you got to remember that French is one of two official languages in Canada. For example, I can speak french. It is not the organisation's duty to represent french in the NHL. It's their duty to win games. French can be represented by the many players from Quebec across the league.

Also, what happens if when the Nordiques come back?
When they'll comeback, it'll be one of the league's best decision. We can both agree that Canada doesn't really care about us as part of the confederation. The reasons why the Canadiens even set foot in the big league was because of this reason. The ''Canadiens'' were the name of the Quebecers back in the days and there's a reason why the team made it. French people could finally be represented in the NHL. While I agree that the players can represent us, having a bilingual coach is a most. In my opinion, it just shows respect toward it's main fanbase.
I consider Quebec to be part of confederation. I care :< (I think most people do think that, too. I think the sentiment is more "get over yourselves and your insecurity already" vs "you are NOT part of confederation frenchies!!") *goes back to drilling for oil/mining for potash and uranium*

Oh Canada and your multicultural milieu!

(Saskatchewan represent!)
Haha, yeah well, I gues we can't really agree here haha.
Anyway, you know what they say: ''Never speak of politics at the table'' !! hehe
Coach that can actually get your team to win games > shitty coach that speaks French.

You QC folks befuddle me.
They wanted a french-speaking coach and they got one, Michel Therrien. Now that's a lot better than Marc Crawford isn't it? That's my point. We wanted the best bilingual coach available and I think Bergevin succeeded.

French coach that can actually get your team to win games > shitty coach that speaks French.
Very limiting though, requiring that one speak French.
Yeah, that's what I was trying get at. Eliminating potential coaches based on a non-integral part of coaching an NHL team seems foolish.
Ok, what if Toronto was to have a coach who only speaks french? If he's good, he's good right, regardless of his background? Would that ever happen? Of course not.
