NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT....

Have you ever heard the term Movie-Game? I just heard it on this one post on the Nordic Mythology thread, and lately I've been thinking of doing a movie with RPG maker. No voice actors, just cutscenes. This also means that if I change my mind about the voice actors thing, I'm going to start asking people. I've been thinking of what my first movie could be about, and thought up 2 ideas, and I'm not sure which to pick, 1 has a reason why, and the 2nd is just being used as a test idea.
1.Imagination Adventure:Pyroboom Episode 1- This would be a little mini series including Pyro Team, Evil Pyro Team, and the other Teams in the fight. The reason I would choose this is because it could be a way to finally make my dream come true, though...unofficially. You see, when me and my girlfriend were together, we made up this little game when we were younger, and ever since then quite a lot has changed. The ideas in 'my' version ranged from a show on Nick Jr.(back then) to a show on Adult Swim(now) and probably higher, while my girlfriend's was a fantasy esque modern day thing where she was the more powerful out of the 2 characters.
Now that I got that out of the way to explain this idea, let's go to number 2.
2.RMN the Movie: Again, just a test run. Don't even know what it would be about. It could just be a test run and not even be released. Don't know how I would do it, it just seems like a nice idea to try and find sprites of my friends here...or make some...and just do what I want with it.
Seriously though, could I get some tips about this. I'm not even sure if this has been tried before. What do you think about this idea, do you think this is a good idea, it doesn't matter to you, or do you hate the idea? Which maker do you think this would be best on(besides VX Ace and XP, those can go die in a fire for all I care right now. Don't ask)?
Please tell me. Thanks!

In all honesty it seems kind of odd to use an RPG engine to make a movie.
Have you heard of visual novels/comics? You should consider making one of those instead, depending on the point-of-view your planning on using.
For example, in first-person, you're the main character and can choose among dialogue options that progress the plot, and maybe even change the outcome. Like movies, these can be based mainly on plot and story rather than gameplay, but it'd make the game a lot more fun and accessible to RPG Maker players.

Premise sounds like a visual novel with the Auto function permanently activated.

What do you mean by accessible?

What's premise?
Edit:Or is it not a game your talking about, and the actual word. Never heard that word so often to remember it. Sounds familiar. I'll search this word up later.
In the time it took you to write that reply, you could have gone to Google and put in "define: premise" yourself.
But yeah. Why use RPGMaker to make an non-interruptible movie?

author=MarrendHaha, I've seen both of those before~ They're pretty close to rpgmaker movie games imo. Oh, and another good one, yet short is The End of the Witch of Lorven.
Maranda? With His Father's Sword?

Well, I was thinking that it would be better than getting real actors, because I'm not sure if they would want to do what I want them to. Plus, if I want voice actors, they just act with their voice, they don't actually do what's in the movie.
Plus, I can make my characters do whatever I want and it's a lot easier than digital animation, which I can do the same thing with. I thought it would be a interesting idea. Plus, for this movie idea, I had decided that maybe their are times to save in case you need to leave in the middle of the movie. The reason I'm not making it a visual novel, is because I hate visual novels. They're boring, and I can't find how some of the are games. "The gameplay is in the choices you make.", one of the games I played, had no choices besides a phone, and what part of the story is calling someone on my phone gonna change?

I dunno, that's actually a pretty sweet idea. What better way to change the story than to PICK what characters are involved? Maybe you want the story to be all about the main character's girlfriend, or at times you feel sorry for his dad and want to speak with him about an event that's come up.. or maybe you just want to ignore the hell out of them and see how the story progresses from there. Maybe one of them kills themselves because you didn't call them, and that changes everything. If anything, that's a really in-depth way to give control to the player on what happens in the novel, which still makes it a "story" but it's still a game, too. Like one of those adventure novels. "If you want to take the left path, turn to page 32. If you want to take the right path, turn to page 84, blahblah.."

I think you need to learn how to make Flash movies or something. You can import sprites and use them to make a movie that doesn't require people to even download it. RPG Maker seems too intricate a program for what you intend to do.

No, I meant they'd have to download the game. If it was a Flash file, they'd only have to stream it from the website.
(Although in some cases, where people haven't ported things properly, I guess you'd have to install the RTP.. but not my point.)

Strictly speaking, Visual Novels aren't games: They're narrative-focused works which allow the viewer a slight amount of control over the direction the story goes in. Some of them (Planetarian, Narcissu, the later parts of Ever 17) don't even have choices.
Additionally, your claim that you don't want to make a visual novel because they lack gameplay is rather odd in face of the fact that you are proposing the creation of something that would have even less interactivity.
I could see some advantages of doing something like this in RPGMaker instead of ren'py: Maps allow for you to use sprites to give a feel for the whole room, rather than just focusing on the characters with a background behind them. (The expense, of course, is that Sprites on a map are not as expressive as Visual Novel sprites).
The downside would be that you'd have problems selling the concept, because most of the people who would take a look at it would be expecting a game instead of a narrative. I think that this is enough of a disadvantage that you'd be better off working in Flash or Ren'py.
Check out Poetry2K - a small movie thing I did for a poetry class. It's small, but I thought it was pretty neat. (It was presented like a sort of CD - the load files would take you to a different selection/part of the movie/'disc'.)
