THE GAME REQUEST TOPIC

Everyone who makes games eventually faces the conflict of picking one game idea to work with from a vast pool of ideas. Everyone is full of ideas. People can work on any games they want, but knowing what players (especially players in RMN) want and expect might be a good reason to pick one specific idea in detriment of others.

I have in my mind a somewhat specific type of game I want to play, and it's the type of game a lot of people in RMN could make, but I can't seem to find any games like that here. So I had this crazy idea of making a GAME REQUEST TOPIC, where RMN members could talk about what kind of games they would want to see being made and play, and maybe someone, checking the topic, will say "Hey, I can make a game like that! That's a good idea!". Or maybe that game was already made, but we couldn't find it.
*intentional double post*

I'm really in the mood for playing a somewhat traditional RPG, with a focus on character development, character customization, maybe many possible characters (in a party of 4), with either a great story or not much focus on the story. I actually feel like grinding in battles so I can level up characters and customize them, but most traditional RPGs (here) either have too much walking and talking, and/or they have a linear character progression that is just not very appealing.

Remember when I actually used to make games? Me neither.

Would anyone be interested in a RPG that has a TBS (tactical battle system if there's someone who doesn't know) except it's rather realtime? The battle is only paused when you're selecting a command, moving the character etc.

Not sure if you've played the Eden Legacy games, they're really oldschool with not much focus on story but you can customize your character (plural in the sequels) by choosing your skills every time you level up. You can choose the game's difficulty by opting to not choose heal type skills along the way, for instance, and there is an energy system that forces you to replenish your energy before being able to use heavier attacks (basically, this means mp refills every other turn, forcing you to choose carefully your attacks each and every turn). It's a numbers thing, and it becomes more interesting as you gain more skills.

It's intentionally primitive and the dialogue is very limited, which not many people have liked but it sounds like it may be what you are looking for atm. The trilogy edition version (1.3) is available for the first game, but I heard from someone they couldn't get it to work. If that's really the case, the original versions are available on their respective game pages and they aren't too much different.
