UNIVERSITY GRADUATION

Tomorrow my university's going to have a graduation and I've decided not to go as I messed up and forgot to hire a gown so I wouldn't be allowed to take part in the ceremony anyway.

I just wanted to take photos and then leave I wasn't planning to take part in the ceremony. It's kind of a big bummer but I've started thinking, is graduation that big of a deal? Here in the UK you don't graduate from school or college, just university and I'm just wondering why it's something people make a fuss about.

What are your thoughts on this guys? Did you go graduation, if so how was it. If not why not?

It sounds about as pointless as weddings, engagement rings and tuna. But then again, I'm partially a robot who doesn't understand the concept of many things and finds them stupid.

I guess the system's are different : here in France you don't have any celebrations but also graduating from University wouldn't mean anything as you can have a 2,3,4,5,6 sometimes 12 years diploma not to mention those you can take as long as you like to finish (thesis), or did I get it wrong?

12 YEARS? That's an awful long time to spend studying or even writing up a thesis...

If you want to be a psychiatrist it's 8(?) years of medecine +4 years of psychology.
It's a ceremony as meaningless as a tribal rain dance.
Parents love 'em though. You get out of it what you get out of it, I guess. Like the education itself.
