GOOGLE DRIVE IS PERFECT FOR RPG MAKER!

If you have heard (or haven't heard...) of Google Drive, you should use!
It's internet based so you won't lose your game! Just update it every week or so on Google Drive and if you lose your game from your laptop/monitor dying and you get a new one, just get RPG Maker and then download your game file from Google Drive and put it in your files and open it in RPG Maker!

It's pretty awesome. Search it up.
I never did get on Google Drive because I was already using Dropbox and Microsoft's SkyDrive. Having a 3rd online storage space seemed too redundant (and that's not even counting my lockspace here at RMN)
I found dropbox better because it's real time and easier to access <:3c
Well, different people use different things. I'm just suggesting it if people don't know about any at all.

I going to check those out though. :)
There are actually a lot of online storage websites, anyway. Google Drive and Dropbox are just some of the well-known ones.

In my case, I still prefer keeping my backup in my handy thumbdrive, though of course I should start using an online storage website soon.

Local backups are almost always better than remote backups because you have direct control and ownership over the backup media.
I've an external drive only for backup purpose, 2 times a week. Another external drive where every once in a while I do another backup copy and an usb pen drive where I copy the project after consistent changes/woks.
If my city explodes otherwise, I'll have some problems retrive the game's data XD.

The fact is that the full folder of the project, with work in progress file, layered files, everytypeoffilethatconcerntheproject, resources to be used maybe yes, maybe not, we'll see, screenshot, snapshot to rip, etc, it's about a Giga. I can upload only the real project folders, but it's easier to copy all in another drive.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone to always keep multiple backups on multiple storage media (Testament's backup regiment is a great example). Just had one of my external HDDs fail on me (not surprisingly the oldest one!), fortunately with no data loss since I luckily had signs the thing was going south and I managed to copy the data onto another external HDD.

Those storage media failures really do come out of the blue when you least expect it.
I've seen too many project (at least in italy) lost forever in a crash/hd failure/format/PC stealing/other plagues...

Backup is the way.

The risk to lost years of work in progress is something that must be absolutely avoided.

...until you loose your 16GB thumbdrive somewhere in a parking lot or Tim Hortons or something in the middle of winter and despite your searches you just can't find it and everything on that thumbdrive is lost.

Not that that just happened to me or anything.

Luckily, I keep semi-regular backups of my thumbdrive contents on my computer. I only lost about a month's worth of work (and at my current glacial pace of development that was next to nothing!)
