DISALLOWING THE USE OF OTHER PROGRAMS

So basically, I found out that it is possible to use 'cheat engine', which is a cheat engine that lets people ... cheat.
This defeats the whole purpose of my game, so I was wondering if there was any possible way for the game to shut down if someone opened a cheat engine, or if there was any other way to stop people from using it?
This is crucial because gaining money is a big part of my game, and I don't want it to be extemely easy to power through the game.
Thank you.

In this day and age, this is pretty much a non-issue.
People who don't want to play without cheating are probably not going to play anyway. And if people decide to stop legitimately playing and use cheats to bumrush their way to the end, then it's your poor game design that's the culprit.
*shakes fist at Sim RPGMaker 95's save-anywhere which allows/encourages save scumming*

Still, I know a couple of people who've said they have hacked a quadrillion coins+, so I really want to try and stop the use of it.
Man, go focus in gameplay. xD
If people want to ruin their experiences they'll do no matter how. This is as pointless as moleboxing games made with public resources. Chill.
Besides you can always make check routines for exxagerated money growth.
(Like if the player gains more than X money at a time, the player's money will be reduced to zero)

I posted here for help - which I really do need. I just need to have a way for this to be impossible to do.
Actually JosephSeraphs idea is a pretty good alternative to 'fight cheaters', it doesn't even have to be with coins either. I also doubt you are going to get the advice and answer you need when there are plenty of other ways to do it and really, cheating in an RMXP game is very stupid anyway.

How exactly would I make it so that if someone gains X amount of money at a time, money is reduced to 0?
What software are you using? If you're using any Rpg Maker, go check any tutorial on conditional branches. =]
Use a global event that stores the current money and checks every 5 minutes. If the current money is 10000x what it was before, they cheated, delete it all.
To repeat everyone else's point, I'd say just let them cheat. If they bother to spend the time finding a way to cheat, they must like your game - because the rest of us would just delete it. Let them have their own fun within your game, even if it's not your intention. I wouldn't spend time deterring a very negligible % of players because I thought it would harm the "integrity" of my game.
Take Skyrim. Do you think Bethesda predicted people would be able to break the physics and send bears flying off the mountainside and ricocheting through the air? I don't know but I'm sure they didn't mind when those videos got 500,000+ views.

That sounds like a good idea - how would I put in a 'global event' though?
Ah, it really depends on what RPG Maker or engine you're using. In RM2k3 they were called Common Events.
I'm using XP. I know what a common event is, but I'm not sure how to make it so that when someone gains a certain amount of cash at a time - it will trigger something.
Just have it check their cash on a regular basis (say every 5 minutes) and if it's increased by a substantial amount, have it delete all their money.
Of course I'm pretty sure you could just hack around this but whatever

Nothing short of a completely walled off, per-process-sandboxed, closed-platform operating system will prevent the use of cheat-hacking through memory manipulation and other methods, and I'm uncertain if even that will prove impregnable.
Or in other words, just don't worry about it.

Actually you know what would be a genius idea: make your game require an Internet connection to play. That way they definitely can't cheat

Maplestory 3rd-party program filter wrongly banned me from hacking. That's all I'll say.
I actually remember when games had their own built-in cheat codes. If you don't want them cheating through outside sources, have some "legal" cheats for a quick way through the game. At the very least, a debug mode is important to have, so you can bugtest various portions of the game (which, yes will allow easy value editing, but also helps you).

Ctrl Alt Del had a comic where Sony kept doing crazed protections, to the point of having each PS come with a custom clone to give a DNA password. They hacked the clone.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Yeah, OK, momentarily ignoring the fact that this request is literally impossible - MMORPG designers have spent millions of dollars trying to solve it and haven't yet - you're also looking at the problem wrong, as numerous people have said. If people are cheating at your game, it's because the game is designed in such a way that playing it correctly isn't fun.
author=LockeZit was more of a "prove me wrong" sort of thing. Since I went to many cheat forums to see if it was possible to actually hack the game, but all the forums had frustrated people asking for help since they couldn't make it. The people who play my game like it, but they also think it would be nice to have more cash. So what I told my friend was that he couldn't hack it, but eventually he did :P (Well he had some help from a friend of his)
