Answer the poll and comment on what you do, but only if you are comfortable with it.
This has no ultimate purpose. I was just curious about the people behind the avatars.

Well, you mainly work because you have interest, nessecity or both. I still live with my parents and they pay almost everything, food, water, light, gas, internet, school. Even when they say don't want to buy things for me as, games or stuff like that (which I completely understand) they have help me with the netbook I have (it was on sale so my dad buy 2) and a piano/keyboard (I pay 1/3 and my sister and dad the other part) Other than that I don't have necessity cause I am a spoiled kid I guess and all that I mention here is all that I need.
But I do have interest in jobs, I worked in subway about 2 months recently and I liked it, I decided to quit since I wanted to continue with my home-schooling and practicing piano, the schedule was very saturated and either way I lost interest in one or another, so I choose to finish my school without pressure and learn as much as I could in my keyboard. So I choose that I am satisfied with my no-job.
Edit: I like this kind of polls, I finally can share my unimportant shit.

I'm a University student living off both the government (student loans) and the bank of mum and dad (parents' help).
Next year I'm most likely working for BlackBerry as a software test developer intern, though. I'm probably going to hate it but I need the money (it's a pretty feisty salary for an intern job outside London) since I don't want to mooch off anyone anymore.
EDIT: Changed my mind - at this point in time I'd rather go into academia. I can be a teaching assistant in my final year anyway so I'll still be financially independent. Whoop

I am a college freshman and I don't have a job yet. Though, I couldn't manage my time to work anyway, not with all these classes and homework. I am planning to get my driver license and get a job in a Japanese restaurant in summer. :)
My dream is to become an electronic engineer or a game designer. I am trying to finish all the classes as quick as possible and get the hell out with a degree. I am sick of all these useless classes. :|

Anyone who votes 'satisfied' is LYING. Unless their job involves sitting around and being pampered or something.
Nah jobs are okay. I work in a warehouse distributing goods to shops, which is pretty much just lifting whatever I'm told to onto a forklift and stacking stuff properly. It gets surprisingly tiring! Pretty pissed that I don't have arms like The Hulk though.. but soon.. soon..
Oh and money is nice. Everyone loves money.

Lol, Nightowl makes the boxes you move, Caz.
I don't.
I wrote satisfied, though that's inaccurate. I usually work on small scale gardening business, on a freelance basis. No, I'm not Hispanic, and no I don't have massive machines that do the job in 15 min. I'm basically on of those people that does old-school pruning (along with weeding, mulching, and some odd jobs). I've also been known to catch chickens.
Well anyway, I say it's inaccurate because while I like my job, I'm seriously underemployed. I work maybe six to nine hours a week if I'm lucky, about 2 if I'm not. I charge $10 an hour so I get some spending money, but yea I don't have an apartment or anything. I do alot of volunteer work too, it's not terrible (I occasionally get stipends, so it's the awesome feeling of wanting to do the work and getting paid for it too).
The other year I had some boss who gave me a "real" job. Sure I got real hours, but it really screwed with my sleep cycle, since I got some two days work at like 8am-2pm and other that was 3am-4pm (or so). I was tired, and this is when I also had three other jobs, totaling 9 hours, which he wanted me to quit so he could add one more day of work (this was part-time, despite that the morning part could add 20+ hours) because they weren't "serious" enough (btw, this $10 an hour was tax free, he was charging $8 an hour meaning six hours of work was giving me only $48 instead of $60 and that was before even more got cut out of it. It was enough that I was getting an extra 1/3 of salary from the other jobs) which I said no to. I could seriously consider staying here, and I liked this job. One of the girls later decided she couldn't work one of my days, but when I said I didn't wanna work an extra day (ummmm, double standard anyone) he decides to cut my hours. So there goes most of my salary and there goes the fun part (the early morning was for shipping, the other one never saw me outside packing duty). So yea, I hung around until a hurricane destroyed their crops for the year, and I've not been able to apply to places since (no, he didn't blacklist me, I'm just that bitter about the employment process, and it makes me hesitant to go anywhere and ask them). So I'm trying to put up various flyers and business cards, and run my own thing.
So yea, I'm in the bottom 0.01% of income bracket.

author=Adon237Same here, quote to quote. It seems as thought you either have a lame job and an awesome life (as in made lots of great indie games at least) or you have a awesome job and you don't make indie games at all (as in, yet to find a great indie game developer with an awesome job).
i am a child and based what i have read so far i am fearing for my future
Seriously.
I'm quite satisfied with where I sit - I'm a full-time/contract web dev (it's technically a one year contract with extensions every year, but it pays by the hour at full time or more work). I've been with the same company for four years now, though I started out as their QA guy during university and was transferred/promoted a couple times. I'm now the guy in charge of our in-company work out of this particular office (which was setup specifically to handle the company's web presence and has since branched out to take on contracts of its own).
I can work from home or at my own leisurely pace, as long as deadlines are met and my hours are properly clocked. The company provides food and drinks at the office and buys lunch once or twice a week. We have a lounge that we can go to during our downtime or if we're just in need of some creative juice flowing session, and its home to both the Corporate XBox and the Corporate Hammock (my favourite place in downtime).
Once I get some more money saved up (despite being full time, it's not an overly well paying job, it's mostly the benefits of the job that make it worth sticking around for), I intend to go back and do a couple extra years of schooling, probably do my Masters program.
All in all, I'm satisfied overly with where I am at the moment.

I picked up a Skilled Trade and now make a very good living, affording myself lots of leisure time to indulge in RMing and other hobbies.
In a bizarre twist of hat, my dad's company went under and now I take care of the parents.

I work as a pamphletist. I gain at least as double as any other pamphletist due to my extremely high efficiency & charisma (read: hard work when they all don't care about shit and just work there to say their mommas or their chicks). While this is still very low, it should be more than enough to live with a slight bit of comfort (read: afford nutrella and ovomaltine once in a while) AND save some money 'till 2014. not to mention it's from 9 to 12 AM LOL
Also my freelance artist work, both physical (caricatures, parties, etc.) & internet (freelance illustration and commissions) help a nice ammount. Especially considering that a dollar translates to roughly 2 Reals, it's handy
I'm happy with my job. Satisfied? Yeah, that doesn't mean that I'll quit my ambitions, though. But I don't need anything else for now! (Not that i'd refuse if it came)
We just need to be smart and make lemons with the LEMONADE life gives you.

I've been job hunting in earnest for close to five months and haven't gotten a whisper, so besides working on a commission basis I don't have a job. I'm in my second year of University studying game design, which covers a variety of disciplines as we all know (:P) however there is a problem:
There are no dev companies in my city.
About 3-4 years ago all the companies literally crashed and died due to attempting to develop for the Wii. As a result, the job market here is pretty scarce for even my qualified work, let alone ordinary jobs (can't even get one as a cashier, seriously, I have applied everywhere.)
So I'm probably going to have to mooooove.

A tip for all of you who need quick money: Homemade easter eggs, if you're good at making them pretty they (at least in brazil) SELL LIKE WATER
Softly break the lid of the egg, remove the content (wich could presumably be used later), wash it gently with water, fill with chocolate, remove the excess so that it makes a rather thick wall of chocolate. Fill it with any cream you wish (I recommend hazelnut cream (especially nice if homemade), coconut cream, mint cream, cherry cream, etc.
My preferred is mint cream and it's SO RARE TO FIND
I NEVER FIND MINT CHOCOLATE
Then just close the lid with more chocolate, put it on the fridge and after it cools down, peel off the egg skin. Then decorate with whatever you want! Edible gold is especially beautiful.
So guys, do this and you could get a small extra budget this month
keep in mind that you have only 30 days to sell tho (they still sell a bit after easter, but it gets ridiculously harder every passing second)
And yeah, I love cooking :B

I mostly do web and FileMaker development for a university in Iowa.
I like my job and the people I work with, but if I could sit at home all day and make games/write/paint/play video games I'd stop going to work.

I do contract work making websites/video games, doing design work and writing business pitches for local companies. I don't make enough to live comfortably just yet, but I'm earning more and more as I keep it up. I graduated less than a year ago, so the fact that I'm working (and working independently) feels great.
Unfortunately the past two months I've been so busy with new contracts I haven't had much spare time to make games :( Still, I try to do a little every day, and in the future I'll make more.
Short answer: Not satisfied here but satisfied where I am going, which is good enough for now

Professional software developer, currently working with embedded systems. I'm satisfied with my field of work, although not particularly enthused about my current work environment.
