LOOKING FOR A SHORT PROJECT TO HELP WORK ON~

Which maker do you use?
VXA preferably. I could dig up my old 2k3 files and work with that, since I spent years using 2k3 before VXA, but I'm a touch out of practice with it.
I have no access to XP or VX.

Why a short project? Why not my 300+ hour mega RPG of 8 years in the making?
I'm dead into short projects lately; just games with a cool gimmick and a 20~60 min playtime. Not only are they typically more likely to see a Completed status, but it lets you work on a lot of different projects and ideas overall, without spending months and years slogging over the same characters and themes.

Short Project...?
Now, to clarify, I'm not saying I'll be half-assed on any project, I just don't want to spend the next several months worrying about it. I'm having fun just working on a project, seeing the end result then rinse-repeating with a new one :D

I'm happy to work on any kind of project, whether it be puzzle, visual novel, dungeon crawler, horror, whatever. Combat isn't necessary, but I am digging cool stories and/or interesting gimmicks.

Great!....wait, who the hell are you?
Unfortunately, I'm not one of the highly talented developers on this site that you wish were making this post. I can't make music or scripts for love nor money, but I can do artwork. Not amazingly, and it tends to be of a certain style, but whatever...it's something I can do that I feel like I'm actually making progress. I can map and work on game design/theory, but tbh I spend most of my time thinking up things to event.

Here is a list of my recent completed projects (not all of which are on RMN).
As for a artwork, I have a page of my recent work in the Resources section, and a copy of it at my blog:

Why do you want to work in a team project when you obviously suck?
I enjoy working on teams. I like not feeling like every single task is my responsibility, which lets me focus more on what my task actually is (rather than rushing from one thing to the next, and worrying that nothing is 100%); I'll be able to focus more on my tasks and make sure they're as good as can be.
I have fairly limited experience working in teams since it seems they're not actually that easy to find in the GMing community (the last group project I worked on was a monthlong effort and wound up having everyone else quit within days...) so am looking to try getting into it more. For experience, for fun, for creativity.

Why are you looking for a project instead of suggesting one?
I'm creatively dry right now. I've got a lot of small, vague ideas for gimmicks and things I'd like to try making, but none of them concrete enough to actually work on. Figure that instead of just sitting and toiling over bringing one of them to life, I could make myself useful and help bring someone elses ideas to life. I don't care if the idea is mine or not; if I helped create it, I'm happy.

What's your price?
As most streetwalkers are where I come from, I'm completely free. This is just for fun, to try have a laugh with someone and create something cool.
Could you show a few examples of what you can do? You'll probably get a few offers if people can see that you're worth the investment. ^.^

Was thinking about that, but I don't really have a showcase of my stuff anywhere.

But hey, this could be a good excuse to make one! Will sift through all my old projects and try to find everything I've done myself and toss it all together somewhere...might even convince me to make some more original material, I really just spend too much time eventing than creating resources D:

EDIT: christ I really don't have that much stuff in any one place. A lot of what I have is single additions or edits, and scattered across loads of mini projects; I really don't have one project with a lot of stuff D:

Shit, I need to spend some time making some fresh art...

ANOTHER reason that this is a good idea; would give me something to work on and try to make a decent amount of work for D:...

New page, made just for this. Really don't have much recent stuff though, so this will just have to for now until I get another project to start doing work on, then I can start updating it with more so it's an actual showcase rather than just a few images on a big empty page ~.~

EDITEDITEDIT:
Am using this as a good excuse to get back into spriting. Have just sat and made up a caveman spritesheet to get back into it properly. Now just need some inspiration so I can keep it up :D
Okay. Here's the deal... I have been creating one rpg maker ace game. It called Twisted Grief. It tells about a girl who's dad, and brother dies in accident. Girl is of course very sad about it and she blames herself about it, because she could have saved them.
Then she gets a chance to save them all.
Its a short game. The whole story inst planned yet, but i think know the main details.
It would be nice to work in a team, but its okay, if you dont want to. It is only suggestion.
I am also a composer, so you dont need to worry about it. Scripting isnt my cup of tea, but maybe i figure out something...
So what do you say?

S'good someone finally got back to me; have just been sittin' here spriting cavemen and egyptian zombies!

Well once you have your story sorted out, if you let me see it (script summary, plans for features or something so I know better what's going on) and what level of involvement you want me to take (I can do as little as just spriting for you, or I could try help out in other ways as well) then we can work something out :D
How much are you interested in dialogue/script writing? I'm not sure if you would consider this a "short" project, but with more people working on it, it would definitely get finished faster. I already have a significant amount planned out and an additional mapper (although his computer is busted or something and hasn't been able to help and won't until early April he said) as well as a 2nd download on the way. Let me know your thoughts. Game link below...

Legend of Alkior

A storyboard is already up for game devs if you want me to add you.

Also, if you are interested, additional help could be (ordered by priority top to bottom):
-mapping
-spell/skill animations
-character sprites
-character battle sprites (I am using RTP graphics right now which is sufficient, but could be improved)
-monster sprites (again, using RTP with a few sprites I found in the RTP style, and could possibly use more)

I've seen you project before actually!
It doesn't necessarily need to be a 20 min game, but as long as it's not going to be some supergame that I'dd have to work forever on, I'm fine; and you already seem to have everything under control anyways, so I doubt I have anything to worry about!

2k3? You'd need to remind me how file transfers work in 2k3 for maps (seriously, that always confused the hell outta me trying to bounce maps between people!) but would be happy enough to work on that.

Could do dialogue, mapping, spriting and monster sprites. Probably ...could work on battlers as well, but I expect that'd take longer; idk why, but I just always had a bit of a mental block with them. Edits would get done faster than fresh redraws, for sure.

Specifically, I'm most interested in non-animated art at the minute (i.e: monsters). Animating sprites, as good as they look, is pretty boring since it's just repeating the same, but sliiightly different art 3~9 times. Monster sprites only need to be drawn once (and thus, buckets more fun), so I'll happily go over your Enemies Tab with sprites ;)

Whichever suits, really. Would like to have a butchers at the storyboard though, then maybe we can discuss specifics.

I've got a project I'm planning at the moment (not going to give specifics here because it's SOOPAR SEKRAT) that I might need some help with mapping and art on. Send me a PM when you've got a free slot and I'll fill you in.

If it's just random bits of artwork (sprites or w/e) just let me know what you need and I can look into getting something done. Am just trying to focus on graphics at the minute, but totally lacking inspiration; s'much easier to create stuff when you have a goal in mind rather than just blindly drawing stuff :(

Either way though, am doing nothing right now. Waiting on Shoo to get back to me so I can check out his storyboard and see what exactly he wants from me, but if you've got something specific in mind right now, I can start on that~

Okay, cool! I added you as a developer, so you can view the extra pages. Also, as an fyi, some of the character bios in there may not be 100% correct or WIP. Check out the game download if you'd like to see what I have completed so far!

Also, there should probably be monster sprites that I will need at some point, but not for the first dungeon, which I'm working on at the moment. (e.g. I don't plan on using the RTP Satan sprite as the final boss :P) Anyways, it'd probably be best to work on several different kinds of things sequentially, so that more parts of the game will be completed and fully playable versus artwork that won't see the light of day for quite a while.

As for RM2k3 map transfers, I haven't really tried it myself, but I believe all that I would need is the map file itself and the associated tileset image file and any character sets that were used for the event layer. I'm currently using the REFMAP tiles for my maps, and I would like to continue using them. A good bunch of them can be found here.
