While I've gained a generally good understanding of mostly every function in RMVXA, I've yet to really figure out a simple one: pictures.
Specifically, making them appear on certain tiles.
What it is I'm exactly trying to do is, using the the blue torch in RMVXA's standard resources. The problem with that is, while I do have a picture to use and put on the blue torch (of course, with some tinting and lowered opacity), I can't seem to get the picture to appear actually ON the torch itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You'd have to get the size of the map in pixels and make all the torches' lights on one picture with the same size as the map and with
the options Upper Left check, X constant: 0, and Y constant: 0.
You could have an event on the torch then set picture = that event X/Y.
I tried this on 2k3, and for some strange reason the object in question was off-center, so I ended up doing this.



You just have to add or subtract from the variables you got the coordinates from, to adjust the position of the image:

Control Var.(01) This event's Screen X
Control Var.(02) This event's Screen Y
Control Var.(01) +X
Control Var.(02) -X
Show Picture:X, Var.(01/02)
