A FEW MULTIPLAYER QUESTIONS

Ok, so this isnt really all about RPGMaker, but I wasnt sure where else this would go. I have a few questions:
1. First, I think I remember hearing that you can not make games that can be played over the net with other users with any of the RPGMakers. For instance, if I wanted to make a game that I could play online with one of my friends, I couldn't make it. I was wondering if this was true, or if I remember right.
2. My second question is if it turns out that I can't make multiplayer games on RPGmaker, what would be the best game maker (I'm sorry, I dont really know the proper term) to make a multiplayer game with?
3. My last question is pretty simple. I was just wondering if there were any good places to find out about making multiplayer games, and where those might be.
Thank you :)

I am fairly certain you can make RMXP and RMVX games with multiplayer connectivity, but I am not sure if they'd be any good.
Either way, though, you'll need to be an experienced coder.

You can also use scripts to allow connectivity on RM2K with a patch. The patch is in one of the stickies on this forum, I believe.
Yeah, that would be DestinyPatch. I've gotten a few simple net applications up and running; I'm not sure how hard it would be to make a multiplayer game. Client-Server seems easy enough, Client-Server-Client is another thing altogether... Security risks etc.
Hmm ok thanks^^
Would I have to purchase a server, or a webspace or something, or do you think we'd be able to connect from our computers (if we each had the game on our computers), assuming I could get the multiplayer to work that is.

You would have to have a central server that you would both connect to. It is impractical, expensive, and rm is a bad choice for an online engine. Those games are not made using this type of software.
