I'M A LITTLE STUCK TRYING TO FIGURE SOMETHING OUT...

So, I'm starting what I guess you could call a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon fan game.
I pretty much figured out how get people to follow me around, but is there a way to make it so I can walk through them?
Having two people follow me isn't so bad, but with three or more it's way too easy to get trapped by them. ._.

Which maker?

The event pages for the followers should have an option like "allow passage through hero" at the bottom of the checkboxes, which will do what you need.
What maker are you using? If Ace, there's already an automatic way to do this in the System tab in the database.
If not, try making a move event that makes their sprites set to through. That should fix it. Of course, this means they'll walk through trees and the like. You could make an event that checks your position and sees if you're blocked in, then switches them to through, or even make it so that after each step you take Through is first turned off, then turned on after a second. Or have it set through off before moving them to follow and set through on after. That actually might work best?

EDIT: Or you could do what ninja!Trihan said.
By "at the bottom of the check boxes, do you mean the Preconditions?
Because I don't see it there... =/
Also, there's Kentona's Cooler Caterpillar script if you need it. (Just search it.)

Dawn: In the bit where you can set stepping animation etc. for the event, should be down the bottom left somewhere but I forget its exact position in 2k3.
The events of the sprites that follow, at the bottom where it determines whether it's the same 'height' as the hero, below the hero or above. He means to choose the 'below hero'.
(You know, NPCs and chests are set as Same as Hero so that when you use the action key you can interact, but if you have a tree top overlaying another, then you'd set it as above hero, and a teleport event would be set as below so that the hero can walk on it.)

Right, that.
Liberty: Thanks for clearing that up for me. :)
I apparently did something wrong when making the npc follow me, because when I set them to be below me, they attacked me (lol) and I got stuck.

The caterpillar system is clearly trying to make the follower occupy the spot the hero is in rather than the spot behind them, then. That's gonna make thing slightly trickier.
Actually, I wasn't using the Caterpillar System. I just told everyone:

<>Move Event: This Event, Move Toward Hero

And it's a Parallel Process.
Yeah....just use Kentona's caterpillar system. Should fix all your problems.

It should be self explanitory
I can try that...

Thanks for trying to help me out, everyone! I feel like such a noob; I haven't used RPG Maker 2k3 in a while. XD
Don't worry: Caterpillar systems have always been tricky when you don't have a handy tutorial. Hell, my first try at one swore me off them forever, so... you're doing well to get them to even follow you. ^.^

(Granted, I tried to make it uber complex for some reason... and at the time didn't know how to use variables properly. No wonder I failed. :/ )

I actually used to have a really good caterpillar system tutorial on War of the Magi, but I don't know if it's even still available online.
I once tried to recreate the one from Jay's Journey. I got hopelessly lost. >.<;

Memories~ XD

I keep hearing about this one, but I've never seen it, nor have I been able to find it.

I'd love to see it. (because mine is a bit of a pain in the ass to implement, and it does not scale well at all)

I think if push comes to shove I'll just rewrite it and upload it here.
