ONE PIECE ROLE-PLAY
Posts
Ah, part of it was the whole debacle over the Fruit, but the rest is that I'm suddenly quite busy with RL and Event/Judging/Game Make. It's kinda killed my mojo for writing atm, but I might come back at a later date.
Just... not on that site. They're kinda fun-killers. :/

Agreed. I'm going to play this chapter out and get a feeling for Taiko, after that, try another site.
Apparently 'Cbox' works on iphone--except on Bon Voyage. Weird.
If anyone wants to join the game and feel out their character, we can attempt another forum afterward?
Edit: we could just RP a different setting, or start our own in the RMNverse. I'm game for anything.
Editedit: I was initially turned away from this site by it's rather ugly appearance. However, after further reading, actually seems better put together and ideal. One Piece RP is ugly, but read the starting tutorials. It actually sounds cool. And something like Liberty's Scan-Scan fruit would definitely fit in.
Editeditedit:
I think I'm done. It's been like two weeks of inactivity followed by further annoyances. I experienced a similar situation as Liberty's Scan-Scan ability. Totally craft a character around a weak but interesting power only to have the ability cockblocked? Sucks to that.

And here I was getting all interested in that system they had. Well, if your power didn't make it through, I wonder if a mech pilot would. I was actually looking forward to this...
Anyway, here are my sketches.

I'm still thinking of some changes. Go over the cockpit again, change the shape of the arms to not clash so much with the hands, enlarge the feet... Iterate, iterate, iterate...

ugh, I was afraid something like this would happen. there are a few different sorts of people who have the enthusiasm and conviction to make a big fan effort like an anime forum roleplay thing happen, and a lot of the time those traits overlap with inflexibility, monomania, flat-out paranoia, etc
I guess one of the things about building a world or adapting a setting or whatever is that it gets really tempting to start giving people hell for doing things the "wrong way"
and/or you get so wrapped up in your own self-insert mary sue that if there's the slightest possibility of someone else stealing the spotlight you wanna put the kibosh on that as soon as possible
tl;dr fuck nerds, go ahead and make a thing on this site, it's probably the course of action that will expose you to the least stupid nonsense
(true story, I had an awesome idea for a robot who ran on spicy food but when I asked for advice in the cbox I found out that I had entered a dimension made entirely of stupid "realism" arguments about a setting where not only is realism pretty damn loose but robots and cyborgs are already explicitly A Thing
(excuse the fuck out of me for not considering the logisitics of a curry robot, in this setting that contains a cyborg in a speedo who runs on fizzy drinks)

other sites are not worth the trouble because 70% of anime fans are monomaniacs and your small cell of reasonable people will run into an appreciable amount no matter where you go
good luck though

Once the dust settles on this idea, let's revisit it for here. I'm not sure where--probably Welp,welp-- we'd host the thread. That's a problem for Future Selves to figure out.
Edit: mawk, I'm incredibly unsurprised about the robot. You're assessment is pretty much spot on, of the situation there.
Editedit: CyberDagger, I'm half curious if it'd work, too!

Well, my character would actually require having two sets of attributes accounted for, one for the kid on the robot and one for the kid by himself. (He's nimble enough that getting off the robot is actually a speed upgrade for him, but otherwise worthless in a fight, but that worthlessness would have to be qualified.) I can see them easily putting a stop to that.
Now I'm curious, Dudes. What was that power that got rejected?

Scanning for Liberty, and the reason it was rejected, seemingly was because they thought it could be abused and overpowered.
I asked for a Den Den Mushi zoan... It was rejected because the people of One Piece 'make the Den Den Mushi' and it's not found in nature.
Which is wrong... Oda himself explained that they exist in nature, and are given attachments to become phones/etc. so I made a girl who made special attachments to use on herself, and become a spy/surveillance chick. Very, very, very balanced weak character. Anyway, nope! Gotta be canon and realistic. This is One Piece for christ sake. I will be surprised if Den Den Mushi zoan doesn't come to happen.

I think that would call for some evidence of that time Oda said that thrown in their faces. Beat then at their own game, haha.
Of course that would happen. I just derive pleasure from having the last laugh.
I've dealt with the Sonic fandom before. I know how these kinds of people can be. There's a reason why though I still enjoy my digital roller coaster rides, I don't associate with those people anymore.

It sucks that this seems to happen all over. As much as I love RMN, there just is no forum I've found where people are this chill and friendly.
my only regret from this falling through is that I'll never be able to do this now.
hell, someone should make a Skies of Arcadia forum rp thing. the whole air pirates setting kind of rules.

You can say that again. Two weeks after joining RMN, I already felt like one of the regulars. Nowhere else has my integration gone as well.
Also, get ready for me eventually opening up a One Year War RP thread.
I should warn you that despite your attempts to create a serious and heartfelt giant robot battle environment, I will not hesitate to drop this nonsense right in the midst of it.

Heh, super robots have their place. They're more about manly shouting and superpowers in robot form, which is certainly awesome. I was thinking of making something more focused on tactics, though.
Still, I welcome your goofiness. It's not the first time there's someone with a super robot mentality on a real robot setting. Who knows, maybe I'll end up going the super robot route if that's what people want. A game master serves the players, after all.
the idea is something left over from a FATE Super Robot Wars-inspired game that I never got around to applying to -- basically, an experimental robot who serves as the power core and CPU of a much larger robot.
he has a prototype orgone crystal reactor in his chest which resonates with positive emotions to generate electricity -- and so he's literally powered by his own enthusiasm and how much his fans believe in him. to capitalize on this and generate as much power as possible, his designers made him pretty much into a character from a children's tokusatsu show. Machine Prince Robotman G-01, piloting Desperado King Impact G-02! the G stands for Gakutensoku, a not-so-subtle nod to a similarly ridiculous robot made in the 1920s.
oh, and he gets auxiliary power from eating spicy food. if a character gets shot down, I always salvage the parts.
