PLAYING ON A SCHOOL COMPUTER

I was wondering if there is a way to play rpg maker games without an installation needed. Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I wasn't sure where else to put it.
There's a few ways to play games without needing admin access to install anything. In University I had a USB stick with a few games on it that all it took to run was just starting the .exe. The process varies for different RPG Makers as they are made to work with the RTP which is the shared resources for games that are commonly used but installing the RTP requires admin access which is usually restricted. The process, as I can recall it, is as follows:

RPG Maker 2000/2003
You can get RTP-dependent games to run by going into RPG_RT.ini and... I think setting the RTPPackage flag to 1? This will tell the game to not check if the RTP is installed on the computer when it starts. This means any RTP resources the game needs must be included with the game otherwise it will crash (if graphics) or not do anything (music/sounds). You can just copy the entire RTP into a game folder as a quick and easy way to do this, just don't overwrite any existing resources.

There's the problem with 2k(3) fonts and that requires installing a font to the Windows install which will require admin access that can't be worked around unfortunately. The font will appear awful but at least it will be playable!

RPG Maker XP
This is similar to 2k(3) as there is a Game.ini file that has RTP=RGSS or something like that. If you delete that line or make what follows the equals sign blank so it is "RTP=" then the game won't check for RTPs when running. Again you'll have to copy the RTP into the game project so it can find the RTP resources it uses as RPG Maker XP and will crash on any missing resource by default.

Fonts are a different bag. XP can use different fonts specified by the game but it will only check the installed fonts. If a game needs an installed font you're pretty much stuck unless the game explicitly defines a fall back font that is installed, like one of Window's default fonts. If no font is found then no text will appear making the game unplayable.

RPG Maker VX / Ace
VX/Ace has the same RTP restriction as XP. Remove the flag in the Game.ini and copy the RTP over as necessary.

VX and Ace smartened up with the font issue as any fonts the game needs can be used without being installed if it is in the game's 'Fonts' folder. I'd assume (read: hope) all VX/Ace games would use this folder so games can always use the font intended by the developers.

I don't think I got the exact names for the RTP flags right but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what flag you have to change/remove to make a game think it is RTP-independent. There's always the games that come packaged to not require the RTP too which won't need any extra work to make them play; I'm not sure how many games do that though.

Just as a little insight, I'd be careful about playing games at school if you're still fairly young as that same thing landed me in hot water back in 2006 for playing on an NES emulator after finishing my work. It resulted in me losing access to the computer for the last 5 weeks of the school year and left me with nothing but bookwork to do. Worse still, three of my friends shared my fate as they saw me playing on the computer and asked if I could send copies to their flash drives so that they could goof off as well.

And don't bother doing the whole "occasionally checking over your shoulder" bit, as they'll most likely be using a monitoring program to view each desktop from the teacher's console; at least, that's what they had at my school. Frankly, it's more trouble than it's worth just for a slice of the period for fun, but if you feel like taking that risk, I'd understand as I've walked in those shoes once before.
i remember when i was in high school, our computer room had a wall of windows so you could see into the lab as your walking down the hall. me and elvis sat in the row you could see from the hall, and one day i loaded up zsnes. he was a total slacker and wanted to play. he said he used to love Super Double Dragon and was amazed when i loaded it up haha we played it over the network a few times but i wanted to do my work so i didn't play too much. elvis, on the other hand, played that game every single day(not even exaggerating) xD he didn't care who saw him playing or if he got in trouble for it. i dont think he ever did, but he probably failed the class.

that reminds of this other guy who sat in the opposite corner. he turned his PC so nobody could see what he was doing unless you walked around his desk. i heard he just looked at porn all day u.u he was a weirdo creep, so it's not hard to believe. this was back in 2001 so monitoring was minimal. the only thing was a hard drive freeze. a few years later i worked for the schoolboard and learned that the password to that was 'codfish' hahah in a small eastern canada town, go figure.

oh high school memories...
Me and a bunch of guys used to play Rise of the Triad multiplayer in the computer lab. Lots of yelling, lots of fun.

The fact that you can play games on a school computer or just on a home computer in your free time is good. But there are a couple of problems that you should know about before you start to play, because if you play a lot of time, then these problems may also appear at your life.
Games take a tremendous amount of time
They are great addictive at the start. Over time, the game bothers you, but the hours you spent playing the game last week cannot be returned, and most likely you will regret what you did not have time to do. If you have a lot of homework that you have not completed, then you will not be able to do without using the service where you can SPAM MOTHERFUCKER DO YOU SPEAK IT which is the best paper writing service. But still, keep in mind that writing homework essays is much better on your own, so it's better to spend less time on games, but more time on doing your homework.
Degradation game
If your thoughts are completely and completely absorbed in passing the next level, then your brain activity decreases. Performing typical movements, you do not strain the brain, the mental processes in your head weaken. Just like your muscles, because in the last month you did not lift anything heavier than a computer mouse. But there are intellectual games that break the brain and sometimes change your thinking. If you play, pay attention to logic games or puzzles.
