PROBLEM WITH EVENT TOUC

Apologies if this has been asked before.

Is there a way to make event touch work like it did in XP?

In XP I could have, say black boulders doing a set path, which if they touched you, it was game over. It worked perfectly, the slightest touch and it was death. In VX Ace it seems they hit you, and if you don't move (or move away from the boulder) you're fine.

Any help appreciated.

Set the trigger to "event touch" instead of "player touch".
It's definitely on event touch. It works to some degree, but if you don't move when the boulder hits you, nothing happens. Where as in XP it would be game over because the event touched you. I could put up a video if it would help?

I literally just created a brand new project with one event set to follow the player, set to "event touch" with a message command. Every time the event makes contact with the player, whether I'm moving or not, the message shows.

I also changed the event so it moved on a fixed downward route instead of towards the player (as a boulder would) and it still worked. I'm not sure why it doesn't for you, but this isn't how VX Ace should be doing things.

Are you using any custom scripts at all?
Nope, no custom scripts at all.

Here's a video of the issue. I triple checked it's event touch!

I don't know what to tell you dude, I just tried pretty much the same setup and it works fine. Can you take a screenshot of the event pages?

Got it.

It's because the events are set to "direction fix". Technically, when they hit the player they're not -facing- the player so it doesn't realise there's been a collision.
I could have sworn I used direction fix during XP.. But you were right. Changed it to walking animation and it worked fine. Thank's for the help!
