FANBOYS IN GENERAL, IRRITATE ME TO NO END

I was looking around online to scoop up info on the new systems and most of what I got were stupid fan boy rants. ALL systems (yes that includes Nintendo) has great things. Take Halo (Microsoft), God of War (Sony) and Zelda (Nintendo). I see so often people bashing those great series. For a Xbox fan boy to say "God of War is so over rated, it's a crap game" that is way false and the same can be said for any variation of the companies.

It's so difficult now a days to have a legit video game discussion without a fanboy of either company saying something dumb and turning it into a mess. How do you all feel about this very issue?
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Fanboys are so overrated, they're a crap demographic

I'm not a fanboy, it's just that anyone who disagrees with my opinions is a stupid idiot and also wrong.

Also, disregarding what I just said, I am very big fanboy of Karlie Kloss.

The community of gamers hold a large share of immature gits with overblown senses of entitlement. You kind of have to learn how to deal with it.
Oh man.. I've been dealing with a major fanboy-issue for a past year or so at DmC:Devil May Cry board. Fanboyism is strong when even after 6 mounths of it's release, these guys are making new issues to hate the game and it's developers. The board is as active as ever, largely because of the haters.

They also took my "DMC-fan" title away because I support this new DmC :D Apparently it's either one or the other, but it's forbidden to play and like both. I personally stay there mostly because of this little pen n paper RPG going on, and occasionally make fun of those DMC-fans..

In short, yea fanboyism is really annoying.

Fanboys are just enthusists. Don't knock them. Just because someone is crazy about something, doesn't make them bad. Are Sports fanatics bad? Nah, just really enjoy the game.
I say let them do their thing. Roll your eyes all you want, but it's nothing to get grumpy over. Most of us RPG Makers are or were fanboys at some point. Myself, I was a Final Fantasy, Metal Gear and PlayStation fanboy.
I don't tend to be bias in my opinions when it comes to 'liking' a certain game console or company. I just tend to take what happened in the past and use that to predict the future (game console history is VERY repetitive, trust me). I wouldn't call myself a fan-boy, but I do stand up for what I believe in.
@Jparker: I tend to be a firm believer in the fact that everyone is entitled to their opinion. It's all it really is at the end of the day. Everybody is different. What appeals to one person the other may think sucks giant monkey balls.

I'm a fangirl of the Tales, Final Fantasy, Assassin's Creed, Shin Megami Tensei, God of War etc. series. But I don't expect that anyone else has to like them. What you think won't change my opinion on them in the least. Telling me they suck and why you think they suck? Doesn't do a thing besides make you come off as an opinionated jerkasaurus.

At the same time, if I'm sitting there constantly trying to shove my opinion at you about why you suck, and they don't...makes me just as bad. I just respect that everyone has something they love, and if I don't, who cares? I'll get into friendly discussions about it but I'm not going to change their opinion any more than they're going to change mine, and so I don't let it get to me~

@CAVE_DOG: she's a cutie~ ;) I can see why you're a fan, haha.
There's a huge difference between being a fan and being a fanboy/fangirl.
Be the former: don't judge games or people and explain why you personally like/dislike something. Otherwise you'll come up as an immature kid who's desperate for attention and nobody will like you.

One time on youtube I was trying to explain how I thought Team Ninja's take on Samus was fresh and enjoyable, made sense when you considered the Metroid manga's story and offered a substantial amount of character development.
Unsurprisingly most replies were just about how they turned Samus into a sex object and other similar bullshit.

let's take this topic in a different direction: How could you like metroid other m. you are sort of like a war criminal to me.
okay a couple things:

why were you trying to hold a candid discussion on youtube

also most of the objections to other m's story that I think are actually worth paying attention to don't pertain necessarily to samus' characterization as taken in a vacuum (as the most I could say about that is that she's terribly dull in contrast with her actions in most of the games) but to her character's presentation in the game itself. the plot and dialogue read as if the writers were only writing samus into the story because they were obligated to -- most of the significant actions in the game are performed by other people, with samus largely acting as a bystander.

the game lavishes focus on adam malkovich in particular, to the extent that it's practically his story. he stays cool and in command, never makes a wrong decision, and gets to make the big heroic sacrifice at the end without much involvement from samus at all. if he weren't fairly old and rugged he'd be the literary definition of the mary-sue.

samus' character, such as it is, feels like it's only addressed as an afterthought. in a game that promoted itself as something that would provide never-before-seen insight into her mind and her history, this is a Very Bad Thing.

(and samus being a sex symbol isn't exactly a new thing, but please read director yoshio sakamoto's comments about her character (particularly as pertains to her mole) and tell me that someone isn't being maybe a little bit creepy)
so the gameplay sucks? from i played of it, it was pretty good.
the gameplay was pretty alright, but it'd be way better if sakamoto hadn't insisted that it only work with the wiimote and the wiimote alone. Team Ninja really wanted to do something with the nunchuk, but director sakamoto wouldn't hear a word of it.

other m in general is a great example of a single stubborn auteur losing touch with reality and bullying the rest of the dev team into submission for the sake of his ~*~vision~*~

he coulda really used an editor, if you ask me.
meisam
meisam your not using semicolon properly, and that's a laughing matter.

People like to be attached to something so that, they think they belong to something, and it become something above that person existence.
This is how it is and this is how it will be. As long as there are people, who think they need some external being to exist there will be fanboy.
Its the same thing about religion, football team, national pride and such a things. they won't listen so don't try it, Find someone who is not so dogmatic.

What was I thinking indeed, haha!
There's a fine line between being a fan and being a snob. People enjoy game series for a variety of reasons. It irks me that people try to impose their biases on to you to the point of insulting things that might interest you.

It depends on the person you're conversing with. Some people can provide a very good conversation on video games.

I'm personally impressed with older FPS, RPG, and platformer games from the 90s. That doesn't mean I sneer or look down at people that enjoy modern games. It's all in attitude.

If you're looking up information on game systems, avoid rants. Youtube is not the best place to go for an informed or semi-coherent opinion.

Frankly, you're best off with PC gaming. However, if you're interested in exclusives, just read up on the game library of a system you want. Gamefaqs is a decent place to go if you want to do some online reading.
we should get a much clearer view of the consoles once E3 rolls around. the XBONE in particular is surrounded with misinformation, just because there's been all of one presentation, and that was targeted at a non-gamer demographic. doesn't leave a whole lot of information to go by, y'know?

I deal with fanboys the same way as I deal with all nerds in general: just nod your head and don't say ANYTHING; agree to disagree and keep the peace. It's also handy against various hockey and basketball fanatics when it comes to arguing about who's team is better, and what not.

Usually this is the case, because my hometown team's usually choke. :(
Perhaps I should re-phrase my thoughts. It's not the whole fanboy nation so much that annoys me, it's just the dumb little kids (some adults lol) that go on an on, when they are factually wrong (I find some examples later after work.) The biggest one for me is when PC gamers say "PC's will always be stronger game machines" Well no shit they will (in terms of power) that dont mean that consoles cant be great to. To be honest, I like alot less PC games then on consoles.
don't ever go into politics. you'd hate it.
