CloseI've been using rpg maker since around 2002, I was ecstatic when XP was released in English legally but i've never been able to afford it or Vx that followed. I was able to catch VXACE on steam for 66% off, bit the bullet and bought it! Maybe none of you care but this is a huge moment for me! I can finally use rpg maker legally and it's a GREAT feeling! I've always been stuck in a weird place where buying it would have put financial stress on me (im disabled and am limited to a small amount of hours working for the state), but at $23 I can finally join your elite club of um... legalism I guess! :D

This story sounds somewhat familiar. Only instead of just skipping 2K3, we have somebody skipping 2K3, XP, and VX.
You, uh, might be in for something of a shock!
*Edit: Though, the OP kinda makes it sound like he's used 2K for all this time, whereas in my case, I wasn't using RPG Maker at all 'till I looked up XP.

I was using 2k3, and it's still my favorite engine, but now I can actually work on something and put a bit of effort into it to make it worth showing others. The interface on ace is actually a pretty easy transition, Not a huge fan of the mapping style but ill get used to it.

Between this and a few other things, I already spent more than I had... Worth it :D
I know the feeling. Before I bought VXA the last legal RM product I owned was... the PS version. And even that was a rip. :/
That said, it does feel good to do the right thing by something that's been a big part of your life. (I realised today that I've literally spent half my life with RM as my hobby. That's about 15 years now.)
