[RM2K3]THE MAJORA'S MASK GIMMICK, ANYONE?

After my Dad finished his game(which I have yet to release, or even finish playing), I remembered that through his work he kept mention "3 day" journey and stuff like that. I always wanted him to try out the Majora's Mask idea, but he had never played that game, and didn't care since he wasn't going to use Scripts for that project. Kind of like a challenge, I guess.
After I started my latest project, taking a long break from RPG maker, I decided I would start working. I wanted to add this die by x number of days system out for quite a while.
I would either like a tutorial to event this, or a DynRPG plugin. Either one is good.
If you need extra information, I plan to have the game take 5 game days before dying, I may change it by 2 days in either direction however(3 days like the original Majora's Mask or 7 days to make it easier). I don't plan to use Time Travel as an idea in the game, which could be solved by just including a time changing feature in this plugin(if it ends up being a plugin), but either way, I have not much information. Just asking someone to help me create a plug-in/event that can help me kill the player if they take too long in-game.

You don't need a plugin, just a simple common event with a variable timer would work perfectly well.
Use this to create flowing time - http://rpgmaker.net/tutorials/705/. There's a sample project if you don't want to do all that work yourself.
You can alter it to make 5 days last minutes or hours in real life. If you can figure out how to use those time variables, then this whole gimmick writes itself very easily.

That tutorial is the main reason why I made this plugin here: http://rpgmaker.net/engines/rm2k3/utilities/24/
It will at least track the flow of time and put it in seconds/minutes/hours format. From there, you could either a) make copies of those variables to have them track time independently from "gameplay time" or simply b) use the gameplay time as your in-game clock so that minutes = hours, seconds = minutes or however you want to divvy that up.
Thinking about this has inspired me a little bit, so I might just make a plugin independent of that one that you can use to track in-game time.

It's not a bad plugin, but it's pretty much the same thing. Yours shows time in the menu, and does it only work by adding seconds while the game is running? So it has nothing to do with real life time? I guess if you just want a simple timer, it would be like, 2 fewer steps.
With my tutorial you can calculate play time, but also make use of real life time. Like if your farming, and you don't play the game for 3 days, when you play again your crops will be dead. Stuff like that. It seems much more useful to me to use the plugin from my tutorial. Plus it also makes use of day/week/month/year.
I suppose for this topic it might be easier, but I won't be using it.
