My interest is still waaaaaaaaaay.......

Game still looks and sounds disappointingly generic.

Yeah, I'm still not too excited about this. I'm not being a grumpy Sam about it either, I want to like this, but nothing I've heard makes it compare to any of the five previous games.
Maybe I'll be wrong! But I mean, it doesn't look like it.

Woo, look at all that skiiiiiiiiiin...
Is this the part where I'm supposed to throw money at SquareEnix?
I'll be honest, this alone would sell the game to me if I was still 12-14 years old.
EDIT: I know there's so much more. I'll be back later to fill out the rest of the post. Then again, fuck it.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Well, it has a plot. That's something. And it's 3D. Now I just wanna know what the gameplay is like. Will it have RPG depth? Or will you just attack the nearest enemy each time you tap the screen, over and over, for 20 hours? It's clearly an action RPG, which is fucking obnoxious. Action + Touchscreen = Failure, in my experience. Some of the problems can be solved by just slowing combat down, but then it feels boring, and you still can't see part of the screen so dodging enemy attacks is basically just impossible no matter what the designers do.
That screenshot has no visible interface though so it's hard to tell exactly what's going on.
Apparently it's for mobile phones and PC, according to Kotaku, not just phones like I thought. I guess that means a Windows RT version to sell in the Microsoft Store to the 8 people out there with Surface RT tablets.
Graphics are really really cartoony. Do not like. Oh well. That's probably what the actual fans want. [heresy]I'm not much of a series fan, I only really liked BoF5.[/heresy] The first four games had colorful forests and cartoony enemies like that.

Heretic!/fun
I'm more optomistic about it than I was originally. Personally I like the cartoony feel, though I do wish it wasn't as Maple Story as it is. Then again, it's not a big surprise that I like that kinda thing, now, is it? XD
Still, I think the character designs that they've shown are okay. I do miss wings on Nina, though, but it seems like there are reasons for it, due to world building and lore so I can forgive.
Frankly, corfaisus, Nina's always shown a lot of skin (except when she was a child character. When she got to adult there's always been skin shown) so that's really nothing new for her character or her design. At least she wears pants (yes, Katt. I'm looking at you~) which is more than can be said for some (also, hello Bleu in her snake form).

The only Nina where you could argue that she shows a lot of skin is Nina1. The rest have just leggy skirts at most. This is definitely a new direction in her character design.
While Nina II had her breasts covered, her ass was almost out and when she floated her skirt showed quite a bit. (My brothe rand I would joke when one of the males missed an attack it was because they got distracted by her skirt floating a bit too high... or Katt's bouncing).
Nina III adult was akin to Nina I and for some reason I thought Nina IV was more skin-shown than she does. Then again, she still kinda counts as kid!Nina since she's what? 14? 15? The others are all adult (bar V).
Also, Nina V, despite being a child, showed quite a bit of skin (not to mention it being almost see-through). Granted VI is showing her stomach, but there's always been a lot of leg shown in Nina's designs and her clothes are very adept at showing her figure off. ;p

It's not like it's the same character. It's a different character who just happens to also be named Nina.
There was really never even a chance that none of the characters would be scantily clad. Who cares if it's one new character you've never seen before instead of a different new character you've never seen before? Man.

It looks 2D to me. Also, touch can work really well for action RPGs--just not when you use a virtual gamepad. Touch location to move, touch enemy to engage auto-attack, touch action bar icons to execute special abilities. A decent example is Summon Night: Twin Age for the Nintendo DS.
I wonder if this new incarnation of Nina will be kind of similar to the one from the first game were she can’t fly in the beginning of the game but eventually earns her wings during the middle and late stages of the game. I’m hoping for that, because Nina just isn’t Nina without her trademark wings.
And as for creating your own character for this game instead of starting with Ryu, I actually welcome it. And if they can bring back the custom town creation from the previous games, then I’ll be one happy camper. As long as Ryu either eventually makes an appearance in the storyline or you can create your custom character kind of like him through hair and clothing skins, I’m fine with that.
So far, I’m starting to brighten up a little bit more about the potential of this game. There are still a lot of unexplained things, like how the combat will play out, but so far I’m more curious about than I was before.
Oh, and I forgot about the fishing and the hunting mechanic; you guys better put in that too. Fishing in BOF2 was one of the best mini-games in an RPG that I’ve ever played. I probably enjoyed it more than The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time’s and Twilight Princess’ fishing mini-game – and that’s saying a lot.
(Lol @ BOF5 Nina. She is so bad, just like that game, that she accidently stepped on one of the fairies and killed it like a doof.)

My main beef with it is mostly that it looks stupid. It literally looks like Gaia's Online type shit. Look at Breath of Fire III and IV and you see thoughtfully crafted settings and visual ideology going on. Breath of Fire IV in particular handled the Chinese/Korean visual inspiration very well. Even Breath of Fire I and II did their thing. Fuck, a lot of people don't like Breath of Fire V, but even that game took itself and its presentation seriously.
This game just looks like a mess. The presentation sucks.

It's to capture the next generation, which was raised by the likes of Zenovia. I'm just as unenchanted by the art style as you are, and I think we're from the same generation, or close to it.
I want to type "and kids are the ones who spend the most money on free-to-play games", but I have to wonder if that's true. Maybe as kids who grew up with that kind of stuff get older and acquire disposable income, they'll casually accept video games which require tolls to play as the norm. Then "free-to-play" will really come into its own.

In my experience, games are almost always worse than what they seem when the developers present them. This game may turn out better than it looks like from what we've been told, but I would not count on it. If this game had something in it which would greatly please old BoF fans, Capcom would have made sure to tell us about it.
I love the BoF series. I beat the first 3. Part 3 is one of the few RPGs I've played multiple times. I did play 4 and got to what I think was the end boss but never finished. One day I will. Hell, I was willing to give 5 a try.
But this?! Is just wrong. I could see giving us a regular RPG on mobile. But giving BoF the Maple Story treatment only for cellphones and tablets?
This is Capcom's very expensive and complicated, but interactive press release announcing the death of the series.
May Ryu, Nina and the Dragon Clan R.I.P

They haven't made a Breath of Fire game in twelve years, and everyone hated that one and claimed it was the death of the series.
I never played Dragon Quarter, and 3 and 4 are still my favorite of the series, but the style of this new game REALLY does not sit well with me. What in the world has happened to Capcom? Why do they insist on taking steaming turds on series that were once fairly awesome? And by that I mean Mega Man, Breath of Fire, etc.

As far as I'm concerned Mega Man and Breath of Fire don't exist anymore. This game just looks like a piece of nonsense that uses the Breath of Fire name but, since it IS Capcom, that means it IS Breath of Fire. Blah.
I just think it's sad when I look forward to indie and fan entries into an established well-known commercial series such as BoF, FF, etc. over what the actual company who originally made them have to offer. Not to say that the indie developers are doing a bad job by any means, but I should still be able to look forward to a new release without having to be highly skeptical of its quality! I'd rather play Blackmoon Prophecy, etc. than anything released by SE in the past few years!
