RM2K3 HELP WITH ENDING EVENTS

Hello all, I need some help with RM2K3.
Before I get into the problem, let me answer a couple of questions or statements you might (or that I think you will) tell me.
Q1: Why am I using RM2K3, when I should use a more up to-date program?
3 reasons for this.
P1:When I heard of RM2K two weeks ago, I only thought there was RM2K...
I downloaded rm2k, and it didn't work,
I downloaded rm2k3, and it worked and now I'm making a game. (Nothing too spectacular, just a regular, generic rpg, and I'm not good at this stuff. Hence, Two weeks.)
and a few days ago I found out about the better programs. I don't feel like starting my work over again.
P2:Appearently, you need to pay for the new programs, which I will not do.
P3: I doubt my computer can handle the new programs.

Q2: If there is a thread somewhere that helps me with my problem, please tell me, I'm new to the site. Also, If my thread does not go in the category that I'm posting in, also please tell me this, sorry.

And now onto my problem.

I have an event that one of the party members sits around in an inn and will join you when you talk to him.

I have no problem getting him into the party, HOWEVER; I need his sprite in the inn to delete after you talk to him.

I have the "Delete Event" at the end of the conversation, and he disappears when the conversation ends, but if you leave the inn and come back he's there again and also in my party. And the conversation stays the same.

Is there a way to stop this? Or is there any alternatives? Please help me!
I don't use 2k3 but I imagine this will work. Have a switch that activates when the guy joins you (guy joins)then delete the event. Then have another parallel process event on the same map which is a conditional branch: if (guy joins)=on delete event (whatever that event number is). This will mean when you return to the room the event automatically deletes itself.

And by the way, in future this kind of thread should probably go into the Help topics board.
Hope that helps!

No. Well, I mean that will work but it's doing too much when the answer is as simple as turning on a switch. The switch will activate page 2 which has the properties of an invisible event.

I wrote this tutorial to help new users understand a few things about events. Try it http://rpgmaker.net/tutorials/842/

I try and keep everything simple and it's full of images to make things very clear. It will answer your question, I'm 99% sure. (hint: one of the examples at the end is the answer)
That's a little simpler. As I said, I don't use 2k3, just I'm aware there are no self switches (which is the easiest way of all)
There's actually a plugin to adds self switches to 2k3. But understanding this method should come first.
Ah,thanks a lot link, that tutorial really helped! Now I understand perfectly.
