I am looking for a way to tint everything but a specific sprite. The simplest way would be to grey scale all graphic resources but that specific sprite, but for my purpose I need to be able to turn it on and off continuously and for short durations.
Any suggestions.

I only tried once this in RM03, though I only needed to do that with 2 standing sprites, so no movements included. I actually just replaced the sprites with images, and went on with the script without having them moved.
If you want to move them, though, I cannot come up with any ideas. Maybe some plugins are capable of doing that, but otherwise it's impossible I think.
The only idea I have is, that you have your sprite flashing all the time, because flashing is unaffected of tint screen.
Hope I could help.

There are a few ways I could see for doing this. Over all the concept is pretty simple, however the execution takes a bit more prep.
At its core...
Simply have 2 tilesets, one that has color and one that is desaturated.
Do the same thing for all your event graphics(people, plants, animals...etc)
Then use a switch - When that switch is on, change the tileset and the graphics to use the desaturated ones. When it is off, Change them back to normal.
Generally I post screen shots, however I didn't on this...if you would like, I could make some up later today.
(You will find the 'Change Tileset...' function on page 3 of the Event Commands in VX Ace)
