CAN'T PLAY VX ACE IN FULLSCREEN MODE.

Ello', I'll just get to the point. Everytime I try to play games in fullscreen mode the games stop responding for a few seconds and open in a small box instead.

I can not resize the small box at all, wether or not I try to open in full screen mode.
Have you tried Fullscreen++ yet?
Might fix whatever problem you have, plus this one gives you more options compared to ALT+ENTER.
I'd rather not mess around with games you didn't make. Also, how would you apply that to packed games?

If this isn't a graphics card thing, then it's some program that tries to stay in the foreground and pushes the game out of fullscreen mode again.

...just curious, is there a parameter that allows you to start games in fullscreen mode (like in RM2k(3)) per default?

Some script you are using could effect that (ie. scripts that
adjust window size.)
I have not used any scripts. Trying to run the game as an administrator seems to lock up my computer (windows 8). I'm not sure what you meant by Rm2k3 Nemica but I'll have a look at it. Currently I have only tried games or stuff I have made so I'll try others to see if I experience the same problem (something I should have done earlier).

And of course, thanks for replying.
If you want to check if another program is messing with the game, try rebooting your computer and turning off everything you don't really need before starting it.

You could also try looking up your graphics card to see if anyone else has problems with VX Ace games or fullscreen mode in general.

My bad, was misreading the OP.
I think I've figured it out. Windows 8 isn't fond of you changing the screen resolution. Haven't found any prossesses or anything else that prevents me from entering full screen. Guess I'll just have to play in the small box.

Thanks for replying.
That's awful! ...This is why I still use Windows 98.

But I can't believe it. I'm sure that there must be a way to have Windows allow an application to set different screen resolutions. Have you tried running the game with, ah, legacy compatability turned on, or whatever it might be called now? ...Does Windows 8 even have a compatability option any longer?

I just did a quick internet search and saw that it was possible to set the display drivers themselves in some kind of compatability mode.
You could use the magnifier, for the shortcut just hold the windows key and press the '+' key.

It's also untrue. Windows 8 doesn't have any reason to care if you change the screen resolution (you do get a warning message, but that's been there since Windows Vista, and it's actually warning you that the screen resolution you've picked will look horrible on your monitor).

The actual problem is how the graphics card translates the resolution it's given so that it matches the resolution of your monitor. You'd see basically the same things happen with any other version of Windows. It doesn't help that RPG Maker VX and VX Ace both use a weird aspect ratio by default.
