PICTURE RESOLUTION RPGM2003

Hey everyone, i just started importing pictures (actual pictures, not chipsets or charasets) and am really disappointed with the resolution limit. It says it has to be 640x640(or less) but only lets me import things smaller than 500x500, and then those are even too big to actually fit on my screen (i guess the game's resolution is smaller or something).
My question is this:
Are there any good mods for increasing picture resolution? If not, am i doing something wrong, i think if i could actually import and see all of a 640x640 image i could make it work, but i have to go pretty small just so i can see the while picture.
Thanks!

Well, RM2K3's default screen size is 320x240, with 16x16 tiles. When running the actual game, it doubles everything to give you a 640x480 resolution with 32x32 tiles. That applies to most(if not all) graphics, including pictures.
While I don't know exactly how they work(never needed to use them), there are two patches, one called "David" and the other called "Goliath", that I believe increase RM2K3's native resolution to better fit monitors with larger resolutions, or something to that effect.
Aside from that, I know Cherry has a patch that lets you use larger character sets(up to 1024x768), but I'm not sure if that's what you want.

Hi WhiteSpark,
Are you using the "Import" command? I've been using 320 x 960 pictures everywhere in my project with no issues. I don't Import. I just place my pictures in the Picture folder.
However, I should warn you, that the size limit appears to be there for a reason. Rarely, say, once every three years, I would get some kind of error which crashes my game during testing. The error is always related to the movement of these large pictures.

So not using the import thing is brilliant, but obviously it still only shows so much in game (cutting off most of the edges). I guess i just thought i would be able to use really beautiful pictures but the low res does not work so well for that.
Anyway, thanks for the pointers guys
