Here's one guide by one RMN member, posted in another website:

Dark Gaia's Begineer's Guide to RM2K3

And the earlier guide it was based on:

The Flaming Newbies guide to rm2k

I'm not 100% sure, but supposedly whatever applies to RM2k, applies to RM2k3 as well. Also, I think somebody pointed you to some tutorials we have here. Otherwise, it doesn't hurt to ask, as you did here. Hope it helps!

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Making a black screen intro with text is easy. First you need a map that's just totally black. Put the player's starting position on it. Make sure the black tile is set to "above hero" in the database so that the player can't be seen on top of the black - if you don't know how to do this, then just set the map as one of the indoor tilesets and use the black autotiles that are usually used for the empty space areas, since they are above the hero automatically.

Once the player is on an all black map, you need an auto-start event that shows a message box with whatever dialogue you want to show. Showing a message box is the first button in the event commands, I think. If you don't want the message box to be visible, the second button in the event commands lets you change the message box options - you can change the options so that the window is transparent and this will cause the text to appear directly on the black background instead of in a message window.

As far as a "regular cutscene" you may want to look up a couple tutorials about events. Most cut scenes are either auto-start events or are triggered by talking to someone or stepping on a certain tile. You'll want to use the "Move Event" event command to move characters around (rather than creating movement patterns for them, which is how you make them move outside of cut scenes). Move Event is on the second page of event commands, near the lower right. If you use the Move Event command, you can then use the Proceed With Movement command right after it to make the cut scene wait for the movement to finish before going on to the next command. Otherwise it will make the movement happen while the next thing is also happening at the same time (so you can have a character moving while a text box is shown, or two characters moving at the same time, for example).
