RM2K3 A QUESTION ABOUT CONVERTING TO MIDI

Okay, I've been writing a score for my game have come up with a few numbers that I think are going to impress a lot of people--I've sure been listening to some of it over and over again, but to be honest, that's really just to find ways of improving it, but I do love listening to the playback--, but I have a problem. I've tried playing off keyboard and I've tried writing it on a scorewriting program, but no matter what I do, I can't get RM2k3 to recognize my files as MIDI. I save as .smf, but RTP won't recognize it when I try to import it. Should I try .rmi or .xmf?
I'm not an expert on the subject but 2k3 might not be able to recognize midis sampled at a bit rate above 192 Kbps.
Also, it is preferable you don't use the "import" feature in the engine. Just copy/paste your music tracks in the game's Music folder.

There is no bitrate in the midis, only notes and automation info,
If you can send me a midi I will check the file for know what's the problem.

Sorry. I wasn't able to get online until last night. In the interim, I figured out the problem. My scorewriting program doesn't regularly save as MIDI. It saves under it's own filing system. Save and Save As will only save to this system, which RM2K3 doesn't understand. Fortunately, this program has a third save option, Save a Copy, which will save in any format.
Note about RM2K3. It recognizes any recognized music file extension, which means you can even play the extensible music file (xmf) extension. Unfortunately, when it plays, the game reverts everything to basic general MIDI, .mid, or smf. I wonder if there's away to keep it from doing that.
