Hello RMN!
I have been a lurker of the RPG Maker communities for awhile (since about middle school), but I believe it is finally time to interact with you all.
A little bit about myself:
I am a current student at the University of Southern California, majoring in Computer Science (Games). I have a deep passion for JRPGs, as they were the only thing that hooked me when I was a child. My first RPG: Wild Arms. From there, I began to play all of the Final Fantasy titles, most of the Tales of series, and any other JRPG titles you can name from the old ones such as Suikoden II to Ni no Kuni. I believe the biggest thing that grew my love for this niche is the music and the storyline; I must have a good art in my video games. I have been inspired to start writing music, and I somehow got really into EDM, beginning my DJ career starting this school year. Though, despite the distraction, I still aim to create a score for a JRPG in the future.
I taught myself almost everything. My game developing career began way back when I was a pubescent child with a tool called Zelda Classic. I made a few titles and a few tile artwork for the PureZC community, but I left one day because I felt completely out of place from the forums. I was a bit too young. Now I am aiming to work with people on starting a grand JRPG project, something that would appeal to modern crowd outside of the RPG community. I need your help.
What I am working on:
I am beginning to form ideas and the structure for a JRPG-styled game called "Fata Historia," a game focusing on three different main characters and their experiences in an oppressed world. Each character represents the hands of a clock, as their actions reflect their importance, impact, and continuity of time within the game. I am working with several other members in USC, but I will release more details soon when I request help with a few things such as scripts, artwork, and tips.
Well, I expect a lot from this community, and I honestly do hope I can integrate well within here. There seems to be a lot of promise for development and production that I would love to get my hands dirty with. It is nice to meet you all, and I'll be lurking and posting every once in awhile!
Contact you soon,
EL
