[RM ACE] FINAL ATTACK

Most of ya'll are aware of the concept you finishing off a foe, but that enemy pulling off one last move before he kicks the bucket, right? For most people, FFVI comes to mind. Are there scripts to pull that off with RPG Maker Ace? I figure it should be simple, yeah?
I did something like this for the prologue boss of my RM2k3 game. However, I cheated because I had the actual monster's HP set to double what it would actually function as, and I had an event page in the monster group that would activate when the boss's HP got below half.

So if my boss had 1000 HP that had to be removed before dying, I set the HP of the monster in the Monsters page to 2000 HP, and when it hit 1000 or below it would do its last attack and then die.

Of course, this method only works if you can 100% guarantee that the player has no way of super KO'ing it (i.e. be able to deal over 1000 HP in this case to bring it down to 0 HP from above the threshold). You could also just ignore this and make that a mechanic: "Super KO the enemy to avoid its final attack!"

Also, this whole reply could be void if Ace has no easily programmable monster group event pages. (I haven't used Ace.)
That seems really convoluted for Ace, though...there's not a script that does it?
Like I said, I haven't used Ace or the scripting associated with it. But perhaps, you could do something like override the Death condition where you check the monster ID of the enemy that has 0 HP, do a final attack if applicable, and then manually remove the monster from battle.
Give boss a status that makes him immune to death status.

Make a battle event page that checks if the boss is at 0% HP. Force boss to take an action (IE, activate the super move).

Then, remove the immune to death status and inflict death on the boss.

Done. :D

....Basically what shoobinator said, actually.
Actually, if the default Death condition works in Ace as it does in RM2k3, an immunity to the Death condition will not prevent Death at 0 HP. It will only prevent it if something would have cast the Death condition onto the enemy.
Nah, in Ace it completely prevents all death.

I'm about 99% sure of this.
