ARE REMKES OF GAMES ALLOWED TO PUT HERE?

I been wondering are remakes of the a game that you already completed and want to remake allowed to be posted as remake. I really want to remake my game Eternal Destiny in RPG Maker VX Ace with a better storyline and I like RPG Maker VX Ace better than RPG Maker VX now because it allows unlimited maps instead of just limited to one map A through E. I don't know where to ask this so I am asking here.
I'm not on staff but A) I've heard other people talk about doing this on this site and B) if you're remaking your own game, I don't see why it would be a problem. Something might be a problem if you were remaking someone else's game, I'm guessing.
Of course you can remake your game and upload it here, people do it all the time.
If it's your own game, that's fine. If it's not your own game, you need to acquire the permission of the original creator. We don't deal in theft, especially when applied to whole games.

What about say for a fangame such as Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. I see plenty of those around here that have not acquired the permission of the original creator in that sense.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Professional games are treated as a different category from indie games, for better or worse.
Though a remake is also different from a fangame. I think if you made a fan sequel to an RPG Maker game, the only potential problem would be if you were also using its original graphics/audio resources. If you used your own, or public ones, then I assume that should be fine. But you should still probably ask, if the creator is still around. Most will likely think it's awesome, but some might get angry, which would not only cause problems but also defeat the purpose of making it (since you were presumably making it as a tribute).

As LockeZ said, there's a world of difference between fangame and remake. Granted, there are those who have tried to recreate the games of their youths - such as the FF7 2D remake (which is freakin' awesome) but the line blurs when it comes to recreation of a well-known story who everyone knows the creator of, vs an old RPGMaker game where not many know the creator and can assume that the person presenting it is the one and same.
I was going to say, if not, then all those past months spent were all completely done for nuthin’.

I think it could be mitigated by putting disclaimer before game begins that says this is remake of game X originally made by Y (where X/Y is replaced by game's name and author, respectively). But I agree that you should ask author first if he is still around.
Anyway this is moot point as author is making remake of his/her own game which is perfectly fine in my book.
I think someone on here remade Final Fantasy 4, according to the game page its as an exact copy as you can get given the engine.
Here it is:

I'm not really talking about fan game remakes I am talking about if you submitted a original game that you made and want to remake it and put it here. I am asking because I want to remake my Eternal Destiny that was for RMVX in RMVX Ace with a better story line and more original face graphics. The problem is the one I made in VX is complete and already has a review. Would I be allowed to remake it since it was my original game and put the VX Ace remake here?
If people are capable to remake a professional RPG like Final Fantasy 4-6, then they should just hire a good game designer and actually make an original game. Otherwise their potential is wasted.
I don't see the problem with re-making something you made. I would even go so far as using the same gamepage, but keeping the original download up as a kind of comparison factor. As for the review, it would be considered out-of-date, since it would be for the original iteration rather than what would (eventually) be considered the "official" version until/unless you decide to update that.
But, really, in the end, I don't see the issue.
*Edit: I guess the one oddity is the images. You'd have to separate the new images from the old. Minimally by making an edit to the "old" image descriptions to note them as such. I'm... sorta assuming you're going to need new images.

I kind of want to use a different page for the remake because I want to keep it separate from the original and leave it on for people who might want to play both and see the difference and improvements.

You can have multiple downloads for a single game, for the record.
For the record, it's fine. We've had it come up in the past and staff all agree that it is a-okay to make a new page for a remake of your own game in a different engine.
