Chips Challenge. This game brings back a lot of found memories. I never owned it, but every time I visited someone who had this game I could play it non stop forever. I remember it taking me forever to finish level 4... I don't know if I actually ever completed all the levels in this game. It seemed to go on forever.
Anybody remember this game? In case you forgot here is a short video.
I loved this game. So much fun. I even made a minigame in Befuddle Quest 2 (I think) based on it.

It might actually be an easy game to make with rpg maker vx ace. Just need to copy the tiles. Though I'm not sure if they're 32x32. Though maybe some of the programming for how the floor tiles work might be difficult.
Yah I used to play this game alot if i remember correctly there is an Ipod version. Its the exact game with the named changed to something else.

This is definitely doable in RPG Maker.
Cool game, we used to have it on the computer at school when I was young(er).

Yes, a lot of it would be pretty easy to do. Just rip and resize everything. You could control the keys / chips using variables. And the boots would be key items, which you could then put conditional branches on the floor tiles.
The challenges would be:
1) Notice the screen size. If you wanted it exactly like that...
2) The menu on the side would be a bit difficult to program.
3) How some of the floor tiles interact with player might be challenging
to program.
1)I guess if you wanted it to be 100% authentic, undistingusiable from the game, that would be a problem. Otherwise you could just use a picture that looks like the display in Chips Challenge and put it on the screen at all times.
2)For the LEVEL you just need a variable that increases by one each level, and then display that variable. CHIPS LEFT would be similar, just variable that decreases when you pick up chips. TIME left could just be made with a variable that decreases once per second and again display it.
Keys and boots, just display a picture of the key/boot when you get it, and remove it when you lose it.
3)Which ones?
The hardest would probably be the cloning machines that clone blocks when you step on them, but if my memory serves me right there is a script for cloning events somewhere.
I almost feel like making a game like this myself now. Guess I'll put it in my large pile of "games that would be fun to make".

I thought about making it after this thread, but I have too much other stuff going on right now. I always want to finish projects before starting new ones. And this one might require some scripting.
OHMYGOSHNOSTALGIATRIP.
I played that all the time on my grandma's computer. It was so much fun/So insanely frustrating!
...Dat Southpole level. What a troll. XD

@kentona I played that entry in Befuddle Quest. I wish it was longer!
I haven't played the original retro game but if it's anything like that entry it should be fun.

Due to this thread, I had a bit of a nostalgia buzz and decided to go out onto the web to see if I could find a free, working download of some of those classic PC games. Trying JezzBall and Rodent's Revenge, all I could get to work was the latter, which is a shame because JezzBall is awesome.
