Hey, trying to get RPGmaker 2009 to run in windows 8. So far I'm not having much luck.
I also tried to run the program on my Windows XP box, and am getting the same result (everything works until the program tries to open RPG2003.exe, at which point it tells me I have an access violation at C0000005 or FF, depending on whether I check the "break after injecting DLL" box.)
I have everything running as an administrator, with compatibility settings set for Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Thoughts? Has anyone managed to get it working? What did you do?
Thanks in advance.

It runs just fine on my Win8 x64 PC. But I would be very curious in what is happening on your PC. Please add me at Skype (cherry-dt) so I can do some debugging with you. Thanks!
I've never heard it called 2009. Just Ultimate. Couldn't hurt to read through this http://rpgmaker.net/articles/887/
Hmm, I tried it, and it works. Perhaps you have some weird RM2k3? Author of translation and version of RM? Perhaps you are using Japanese RM2k3?
//edit: Sending your RPG2003.exe to Cherry should be enough to debug it.

No, because there is often third-party software involved in such crashes. This software, like anti-virus/firewalls, sometimes manipulate processes and conflict with the RM2k9U loader.
