[RM VX ACE] ENEMY PARTY SIZE DEPENDENT ACTIONS

There are a number of scenario's I'd like to implement that are similar to this; an enemy I have is magically supported by 4 support pillars. When all of those pillars are defeated, his magical strength plummets.
However, for the life of me I can't do this even though it seems furiously simple; how can I create battle events in RPG Maker VX Ace that are dependent on how what certain enemies are left remaining? I tried to do it with a Conditional Branch but it's not working for me. Help?

Perhaps you could connect the party size to a variable or create a few switches that flip after certain fights are fought?
Did you check all the events and made sure their trigger wasn't set on "action button"? I know that forgetting the change the triggers was a constant problem during my last project.

Here is a solution for you that is fairly flexible:
Use Yanfly's Death Common Event script.
With this, a common event will run upon death of a particular enemy. You can choose to have the boss's power decrease a little as each individual pillar is taken down. If you would rather the power down only happen when all 4 are taken out, then you would have the common event set up something like this:
Control Variable: Pillar Count Variable += 1
Conditional Branch: Pillar Count = 4
Apply State to Boss that reduces power
Else
Nothing
End
That should do it =D
