SHOWING GOLD GAIN SCRIPT?

So what I'm basically looking for is a script that could display the amount of gold obtained from any given pile of gold as text, but not in a dialogue box- on the screen in size 8 or 10 font, appear , linger for a few seconds, then fade up. I'm wondering if there's a pre-existing script of this out there somewhere and I just can't find it because I'm not using the right search terms.

A script like this shouldn't be too complex... right? I shouldn't be talking about difficulty since I haven't studied anything about Ruby forgive me
