SUPER MARIO BROS X SOUND NOT WORKING

When i played Super Mario Bros X, i don't hear anything and i even checked that i haven't checked "Sound Disabled", i tried searching the problem on google but i can't find any.
The sound crashes in the game at times... you just have to save everything and reload it. I had this happen many times (it does usually occur right before it will crash due to a bug with test play attempts= total live used/available in test play) and not sure what to do to fix it but just restart the program.
Another cause is trying to load the test play or a new area in normal game play too fast (like from world map->to a level): there is a bit of lag time in the program itself, which may cause sound to dropout entirely if the game can't catch up to what you are doing (apparently input is faster than the program itself transitioning between screens at times). SMBx is hardly far from optimized. It will run on anything but really is buggy in odd ways.
I was replaying to RPGFanHikaru. It's not "just part of the engine" that the sound doesn't work. It's a problem on his system and those are his experiences, not a fact of life using in smbx. I've never had any issues with sound not playing.
When he says crash, he means that the sound stops working. He can still use the program but it will be silent until he restarts.
I think there are external programs that can play a part. When I launch smbx I have literally over 100 icons show up in the system tray for something called Lav Splitter. I don't remember installing that. I think there was another program that some people see show a bunch of icons like that. I don't know how to solve this problem. Try getting Lav Splitter? It's a long shot.
Did you install smbx or just get a copy of the program and run it? Does smbx even have an installer?... I really don't know much about these problems but I have seen ppl asking about them. Have you tried the offical smbx forums?

It does have an installer. The official forums are long gone. The only ones that exist are http://www.supermariobrosx.org/forums/
http://www.supermariobrosx.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=962 And this is for 1.3.0.1 which is out (just fixes a few of the default graphics nothing new features wise).
