It's finally happening! Personally, I'm really looking forward to these as I don't remember much about the RSE generation - so the remakes feel like new Pokemon games to me, in a way. What about you guys?
They were my first Pokemon games and thus hold a very special place in my heart. That means that I'm really friggin' happy, of course! I still need to play through some of my old games to import all of my Pokis to my Pokemon Y and this actually gives me a reason to do that. Kyogre was the first of my Pokemon that reached LV. 100 and is still my favorite legendary to this day. I can't wait for the games! :D
GEN III CONFIRMED.
But seriously, I started the series with Ruby and I'm pretty nostalgic about it even if the Hoenn region wasn't that great. It did bring the most drastic changes to serious, such as IV and EV values, which in my opinion made the series worse, but it also introduced more strategic moves that fill the competitive side of the games. I don't know how I feel about the redesigns of Kyogre and Groudon, though. The Omega and Alpha markings on their bodies kind of bother me.

The Pokémon Company describes the games as a "fresh take" on the originals, which debuted more than a decade ago in 2003. "The new titles promise to take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world," the company said.
I wonder what this means. With the way X/Y handled the graphics/gameplay, I would imagine these Hoenn remakes might feature differences in layout and style to fit with the 3D world. If the "fresh take" is meant to be taken literally, then this will be absolutely amazing.

While I think the IV system is kind of flawed, I think the changes to the EV system was one of the strongest points of the series. Before that, every effort point went into every stat upon defeating a Pokemon, which allowed little to no variation as to how a certain Pokemon species could be played. The overhaul of the stat system essentially made it so that you could play almost any Pokemon in the way you want to (in spite of the information being somewhat poorly publicized and cryptic to begin with). In that regard, I welcome it.
Now I can listen to the surfing theme for an eternity IN HD!!!!
If a "fresh take" means shafting the HMs, I'm all for it, because JESUS CHRIST there's so damn many of the in that game...
Not that I even have a 3DS right now, but, yanno... someday.

When I saw the news on Facebook I slmost lost it. Sapphire was my second favourite Pokemon game (beaten out by White years later for favourite) but now it looks like Alpha Sapphire is gonna take the cake.
This is the most excited I've been for a game since they announced Skyrim.

Well the trailer says, "Explore a dramatic new world!" So perhaps it is an entire new quest together, or at least new towns etc. That would be nice and interesting!

Maybe we can explore the unused mountain range and jungles at the northern end of the map. Or they could fill in all the unused ocean space with about, y'know, forty to fifty new islands, or have a sibling continent to the east. I feel as though Hoenn was the smallest region with the most backtracking; perhaps we can travel to new locations by cruise ship, since Hoenn always seemed to be the wealthiest region with its contests and submarines, rocket ships, and cruise ships.

They're just asking for five new major cities and two minor ones with possible post-game content such as newer Pokemon.
Hoenn was small in it's map size, but I'd say the size of it's routes were much larger... At least compared to Johto and Kanto.
SNEAK PEEK RELEASED

Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

This is the happiest news in... Ever... :')
Emerald was the very first game I played when I got my GBA all those years ago. I do hope they'll make a remake of that too, it would be a shame not to have rayquaza. I do wonder how they'd remake him though... Perhaps with a Lambda, as it's sort of in the middle of the greek alphabet and is symmetrical.

Pokemon... Chaos Emerald. Where you can get Sonic as a new Pokemon.
In all seriousness, I played and loved Ruby, but someone stole it from me (And it was right after I caught Groudon too!). This'll be my chance to finally come back and beat it.
