ACTION RPG MAKER ON IOS

Hi,

I am working on an Action RPG Maker for the iOS platform. Users without programming background would be able to design and publish their RPG games for the iOS appstore. As I work on it, I would like to gather some feedback from this community. Specifically:

a) Would you prefer an Action RPG (e.g. Secret of Mana, Diablo) or turn-based RPG (FF) for the iOS?
b) Do I need to provide an extensive graphic library or just allow users to upload their own graphic libraries? (I will provide a basic tile/object set from open sources, but it would be costly if I were to commission quality graphic work. Do aspiring game makers have problems getting their own art?)
c) Would you be interested in being a beta-tester? (It's still very unpolished but I would appreciate all the feedback.)
d) Would making your RPG on mobile appeal to you? e.g. making your maps on your iPad during your daily commute on the train.

It is still very crude at this stage but the videos below gives some idea on where I am at now.

What the heck, this is amazing! The editor looks super intuitive, and the graphics are intense.

a) It depends on how it feels when you play. I would prefer that an action RPG be implemented on iOS because that is more in par with the "casual gamer" audience of the iOS market, but it depends on how well it controls. I can imagine some sort of swiping motion for attacks in certain directions. I'd say it depends on how easy it is for the player to use each system.

b) I think that you can do a basic tileset from open source stuff, but I think that professional developers would seek their own art. The thing about a run-time-package graphics set coming packed with the engine would mean that you have to differentiate between including all that graphical content in a game, and not using this graphics pack. I don't know how big the issue of "space" is on portable devices, but I reckon it will be a bigger problem than on the PC.

c) Yes pleeeeeease (pick me, pick me ^_^)

d) Yes. Oh, you actually mean on the iPad? Wow, that's cool.

Keep us updated, for sure. I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in something like this.
Thanks CashmereCat. Do send me your UDID of your iphone/ipad in a private message. I should be ready for beta by next week (I hope):)

I am leaning towards action-style RPG; also to differentiate with existing platforms. The big challenge of making the editor on iPad is that the screen size is limited, but I am hoping that its mobility would be a great plus factor. I myself do most of my coding on trains/cafes/waiting in line, rather than on my desk at home.

Space should not be an issue at this point. The largest files are usually the music files.

V0.5 development video. Most of the key components of the Action RPG maker for iOS are ready.

A - turn based ala FFT

B - engine first, can do art packs as DLC

C - yes

D - that'd be handy, but a post 1.0 thing
