Let's see if this is the right spot for my dilemma.

Dark God Rising

Thought it looked like a good game so downloaded it.

Looked familiar, but I played anyway.
Got to the part where I was in jail with a big crack in the wall behind me.
Tried using bombs they don't open the hole needed to escape.

Went to the game page to look for into or maybe contact the developer.
Guess what ????

SAW MY POST FROM 3 MONTHS AGO, WHERE I HAD THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM :) HAHAHAHAHA
ON ME.

Can a broken game with no developer to fix it be removed?
Why should anyone else go through the same horrendous, mind shattering sorrow I'm experiencing?

Thank you

Took a quick look at the gamepage. From what I understand, it states that the game was made for the Talking Time RPG Maker contest. I'm 90% certain there is a link to Talking Time in the comments. The game probably also exists there, and you may have better luck contacting the author of the game there rather than here.

Thanks Marrend, found Talking Time but after scrolling through several pages looking for the developers name and not even finding a thread devoted to RPGs I game up :(

Your right Pizza, this is serious.
You don't leave a broken game on a site like this and not even try to
help those playing your game :(
I don't think "broken" games should be taken down.
Just because you can't finish a game doesn't take away it's worth.
I mean, demos are incomplete anyway.
It sucks that the developer isn't around to fix things, but what IS playable of the game still deserves to keep its place on the site. Chances are, you're not the only one who experienced the issue, so you could ask others who have played.

Also, that game is still in development. It's not marked as complete. The game page also says it was updated recently, so the developer -is- around and could be working on the issue for all you know. :P
It wouldn't hurt to mark it as "incomplete" or something like that, though. Ain't nothing more irritating than not being able to finish a game you put hours into. At least that way you're warned beforehand that you can't finish it and don't get a nasty surprise.
What I want to know is, why does it cost talking time $250 / mo to run their site? That's $100 more than we pay! And we host several hundred GB of game downloads and served 10TB of data last month (3.2TB of that being Pom downloads...)

Anyway, the "Date Update" date on the gamepage is very misleading. That is just when Linkis posted the comment, which was the last "update" for the gamepage.

Finally, no, we are not removing any games unless the game developer asks us to remove them. Or we run out of space.

OK, then is there someplace a mod could put in a warning that a game can be played but at your own risk, understanding that part way into the game, there is a problem that will cause you to pull out a few hairs ?? :)

Really, why let this game come up on the search feature so you can download what you think is going to be a fun game, only to get stuck in a place ten minutes into the game only the developer can fix.

I did enjoy the game...what I was able to play. Sad the developer did not complete it.
Not really, or we'd have to do so for every game out there that was either incomplete or broken in some way.

Perhaps just post in the comments that the game is broken, give a detail and warning, but yeah, we try not to mess with game pages unless there's something there that breaks site rules. A broken game doesn't, so...

You answered yourself. ^.^

Really, though, if you want to go into the editor, fix the issue, then upload a link to the map in a comment, that would work. People could then download it if they so wished.

Okay, so I checked it out and from the looks of it the guy meant for the game to end there (as in, demo end). He hasn't finished setting up the bomb script at all by the looks of things. Sorry to say, but either he's still working on the project or cancelled it.

He did say it covered one chapter and from the looks of things (there being about 10 maps total of the game) it either reuses maps like a motherfucker or is supposed to be very, very short. Sorry, sport, but looks like that's all he wrote. ^.^;

Liberty, the bombs do work. I used several bombs to open cracks in the walls to get as far as I did.
When you get thrown in jail, the lead said "mm a crack in back wall" or something to that effect, but at that point, the bombs no longer work and your stuck in JAIL :)

OK, I'll make another comment.
I meant that from there bomb script isn't set up to work.
I thought there was rules in the submission process that staff look over games to make sure they're not broken?

I'm guessing no one who is staff has the time to test games that get submitted to be sure they're not going to be shit and a waste of everyones time.

No, of course we don't test every game that comes through. Do you know how many games we get a week? Quite a few. I have tested a couple that made me doubtful about the content thus far but for the majority we don't test.
No, what we do is allow games through if the game profile is up to site standards. If someone flags a game for something (you can report games~) then we'll take a closer look. Which I did in this case - and found what the creator has since said on the game page: that it was the end of the demo, not broken, and that he just forgot to put up an 'end of demo' sign.

Also, it's hard to test a game before it's actually uploaded to the site, y'know? That is, you only get to upload a game after the game page has gotten past the submission queue. The few times I've checked a game, they either had a link already added to the description or I've been asked to check it out (or it's been pointed out as something that needs checking like this game.)

Frankly, it works.
