In my game I have an item that causes Monster Rage. It increases the strength and xp out put of all monsters. Is there any advice on how to do it?

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

What, you mean design-wise or code-wide?

If code-wise, you'll need to tell us which engine you're using (RPG Maker VX Ace? XP? 2003? Unity?) and also move this thread to the Help Requests forum.

If design-wise, tell us a little more about why you want to add the item, why you think it's needed, and what issues you think might cause problems with it. And maybe how hard your game is in general and what type of game it is.

Assuming you're making this in an RPG Maker:

1. Make two versions of every monster in the game (normal and hard).
2. Create monster groups for both versions.
3. Create a "random" encounter system that allows you to choose which monsters will appear after a certain number of steps. Within this, include a conditional branch that, upon the activation of a switch (we'll call it Monster Rage) changes the list of encounters from the standard to the harder set.
4. Create an item that turns on switch "Monster Rage".
5. OPTIONAL: Create a common event that activates when switch "Monster Rage" is on and is set to be a parallel process. In this event, use variables to create a cooldown timer (or just use the standard RPG Maker timer) and once the variables or timer equals 0, turn off the "Monster Rage" switch.

I say optional for step 5 if you'll instead be turning off the switch automatically when you return to the world map.

2nd. My game is a short Dungeon crawler I'm trying to make just to finish one game and work on my basics. I want the item because in the town across from the dungeon there is a pub and the pub would sell whisky, rum, brandy ect. and each would have a positive effect but also a negative one, like increased attack but blindness, or monster rage. The liquor would wear off after 100 steps and that would be that. I also want to add this to my game to give it more flavor. The liquors in this game would be like invoking the gods from the shrine in the game Bastion, if any of you have played it.
