CloseDoes anyone know where I could find some battlebacks for sideview battles? The same kind that come packaged with RPG Maker, except I'm using Game Maker, so I'm looking for some with open terms of use. I'm looking for plains, forest, volcano and other environments.
Seems like something that would benefit many games, so I was surprised to have so much difficulty finding them. Please let me know if you know where I can find something that fits the bill.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Check out opengameart.org. Click "2D art" and try searching for, say, "background".
Take note that a lot of the thumbnails aren't really accurate, in that if you click on them, you get an entire set of graphics, and the thumbnail was only of one of them. Here's a good set of backgrounds I found on there for example:

A lot of the stuff on there won't necessarily be designed for what you're doing, but would still work fine if you cropped it correctly, like this for example is way too huge, but if you used just the middle part it would make a good snow area battleback:

Thanks, gave me a great idea! I scoured Open Game Art for backgrounds and none are exactly what I'm looking for, but I did notice that a lot of people on OGA just use a Photoshop effect to create backgrounds from public domain images. I just need to find some good photos that are positioned in the right way.
