My guess is script incompatibility. The quick and dirty test would be to have a fresh project, c&p your copy of the battle script in, and see if it works. If it does then one of your existing scripts broke it and you need to turn them off to see which one is breaking it. TDS has a script that can disable other scripts without needing to shuffle your existing scripts around, maybe that'll help.
